What do Italians put on pizza? Real question.

This is good, however this pizza is known to the state of California to cause cancer.

Is anything, ANYTHING AT ALL, not “known to the State of California to cause cancer”?

Maybe you don't really like pizza. Crust and sauce are the only essential ingredients, though there are sauceless cheese and crust (white clam pie) variants.

In Philly you can get "tomato pie" which is basically a thick crust square (a.k.a. Sicilian style) pizza without the cheese. It's tasty. The picture below shows it with grated cheese on it, that's not typical in my experience.

This is silly. Pizza is not inherently unhealthy made with fresh ingredients (and Italian wheat is not bastardized like our crap).

Meat or cheese also is not unhealthy. If you are in good shape, have your pizza as your meal and enjoy.

If it’s within your body’s requirements for both calories and carbs, there is nothing wrong with healthy pizza. And ANY HEALTHY CLEAN DIET automatically prevents cancer, or does as best it can to do so (which it might fail at if you work with asbestos, smoke crack, have a ton of impersonal anal sex, etc).

Funny you should say that. I always want cheese on my pizza, I love cheese (not the stinky kinds though). But the first time I went to Rome, and was eating in a famous pizzeria with family, I did not even realize until it was half gone that my pizza had absolutely no cheese on it. It was sensational.

Dr. Thomas Seyfreid talks about weakening cancer cells by fasting and a low carb high fat diet. It’s an hour long interview:

If you are in the apizza capital of New Haven CT, and go to the best places (Sally's Apizza and Modern Apizza) and order a plain pizza, you will get a thin (but NON-CARDOARDY) crust (roundish at Modern, more oval at Sally's), sauce and parmesan. Cheese is a topping.

Sally's:

I went to Roma when I was 17 and was disappointed and disgusted by the pizza there — not to mention left hungry. My operational definition of pizza was formed on the west coast (of the U.S.) and not in Italy or foreign places like New York City or Philadelphia. My tastes haven’t evolved to this day and cheese remains one of the only two necessary ingredients of (real) pizza.

It’s the carbs that are unhealthy.

You are correct. But if the carbs in the pizza fit with your carb needs that day or so, you can enjoy it. And the wheat in Italy is not gmo or adulterated like here so you are less likely to have your gut biome react to it.

People are finding out that their “gluten sensitivity” in the USA is a sensitivity to our really unhealthy wheat. Not to gluten.

I also went to Europe kind of young but I was one of those who took on a lot of their sensibilities like a sponge. I even got used to eating pizza with anchovies on them in the south of France. Every pizza had an anchovy. And yeah, you had to put your top on to walk from the beach to the pizza stand. I found that funny. Why, 12 meters over there, could I be topless, and at this pizza stand I’d better have a shirt on?? I never did understand that one.

I can certainly believe this. In terms of fitness and bodyfat a low carb low sugar diet is definitely the way to go. Been there, done that, got the 6 pack to show for it.

its the CRUST that will kill you...not the little bit of meat or cheese on the pizza....btw, called “hot pie” from my home area...you’d go out and order “hot pie”...

What do Italians put on pizza? Real question.

There are several acceptable items: Basil, rapini, anchovies, mozzarella, sausage, artichokes, capers, small artichokes, eggplant, prosciutto, things of that sort. Never pineapple, other fruits, or the strange things you find on American pizza!
