In one of the more beautiful moments of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding, guests were treated to a performance of "Stand By Me" by Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir.
The song was performed following Bishop Michael Bruce Curry's address at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. Watch and cry and sing along and watch and cry again:

While everyone has 100% danced to the song at every wedding reception they've ever been to since it was released in 1961, TIME magazine points out that Meghan and Harry's decision for the choir to sing the song at their wedding marks a symbolic turning point for the monarchy.
During the civil rights movement in America, "Stand By Me" rose to popularity during as a "rallying cry for solidarity amongst people of color"
The marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, whose mother Doria Ragland is black, is already a significant moment for the monarchy. As British writer Lola Adesioye asks to TIME:
"How did this girl—who is not only of color, but didn’t go to the same schools or universities as the royals, who wasn’t even raised in the U.K., and so has all these points of difference and otherness—get to this place? It says a lot about diversification.”

That’s right......that happened for this kid from Kasakastan who was in a Chinese top of the line talent contest. It’s a hug e thing in China and he was invited as a black horse. Ends up the guy sings in 6 octives and his control is off the scale. The link is to his first song.....which went International.....imagine the contestants said to themselves....”Uh we’re in trouble” after hearing him as he was the first one up......he’s really astounding and now known throughout Europe and China’s golden boy”....30,000 at his first concert.....recent single just sold a million downloaded in 15 minutes. HE’s not yet known here in the US.

Wow, that is incredible! Higher than Minnie Riperton. Only nit I can pick is his French-as-a-second-language pronunciation, but hey, no one’s perfect! Thanks for that link.
Yes at the time it was notable his enunciation needed improvement and it's better now.. Consider though he speaks 5 languages I give it a pass. Plays seven instruments too. It's been fun watching him this past year....but he's young and wants to experiement with his voice for awhile before he settles. But he's been invited to events throughout Europe so interesting character to watch. (His parents have a great deal of control over his affairs )

Came from Chicago: prolbably hand-picked by the Obamas, with whom they are chummy, or Oprah, who just paid her mother a half a $million for an upcoming interview.

Horrid by American tabloid standards, maybe. She has behaved steadfastly for more than 60 years as the caretaker over a monarchy going back 1,000 years, where the price of privilege is personal sacrifice, not emotional indulgence. She wanted it to remain a private family matter, was primarily concerned for the impact of the death on her very young grandsons, and did not want to turn it into a celebrity-ridden spectacle; but that it became.
Harry himself has said that because it became a state funeral, he had to walk behind his mother's funeral cortege at age 11 with the eyes of the world upon him, that it was excruciatingly painful, and that in hindsight, no child should have to do such a thing. But the ghoulish public clamored for a spectacle, and so did the tabloids and Tony Blair.
As you may be aware, Harry went on to choices of not going to university in spite of being 3rd in line to the throne at the time, plus alcohol partying, probably drugs, random fornicating, a couple of disruptive girlfriend breakups, and at least two widely publicized scandals that embarrassed even his fans as well as the throne.
He has recently matured outwardly through his admirable military service and veteran's charities, but admitted only last year to having emotional health issues around his mother's death he had not previously been able to deal with. He's not out of the woods yet, and judging by this carnival wedding, he may not be for years to come.
And you fault the queen?
Probably cost almost a million to look that simply elegant. (Reminds me of Dolly Parton's famous line, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.") Seriously, they must have needed three refrigerated tractor-trailers to bring in that much greenery and roses, both all around the inner doors, columns and altar and also surrounding the huge entryway and stair rails— and and put them all in place at the last minute so they would be fresh. Wonderfully well done. I imagine Kate had some input there. Both her wedding and her sister's wedding florals were ethereal.
It's only racist if you think, like the MSM, that any American with any amount of African heritage can do absolutely no wrong. There were some grave lapses in taste and judgment in this proceeding that had nothing to do with race, but everything to do with not understanding that in a high church wedding being paid for by the royal family to the tune of $30 to $40 million and publicized worldwide, pleasing your personal tastes may not be the top priority, whether you are a member of the royal family or are marrying into it. Harry certainly shares responsibility for the various cringeworthy elements.
They no doubt had a small army attending just to flowers ;-)

The flowers and greenery and bouquets were just gorgeous. England is famous for its gardening and great climate for flowers.

Pippa Middleton was married at a smaller parish church, and they didn't allow photographers inside, but they left the flowers up for the next day because would be Sunday—and the DailyMail went in to grab some pix. So lovely! Had you seen this?
Another recent fantastic floral display was Kim and Kanye's 2014 wedding. It went way, way over the top -- thousands and thousands of white blooms made into a huge wall backdrop for the ceremony. Kinda starkly architectural, but sitting there seeing it and smelling the fragrance must have made the guests swoon.
And come to think of it, the flowers at Guy Ritchie's wedding (the one after he divorced Madonna) were spectacular-- draped over an arbor, lavishly blooming at his English country home.... gorgeous.
No, I hadn’t seen those (But, peonies are one of my favorite flowers. My grandmother’s husband always brought them to her for their wedding anniversary.)
One of the things I think of when I see all of these displays and the money spent on them, is how many hundreds of artisans, small businesses and their employees, make unusual profit on this kind of thing - not to mention the visibility that it gives them, for future custom.
In some respects, it may seem needlessly lavish; in others, a very good thing. I go with creating beauty, and spreading the wealth around ;-)
