I thought they may have used those little vials, as a way to keep individual flowers fresh. They're glass or plastic, with a little rubber stopper at top to hold the stem and keep the water in. You used to get them whenever you bought a corsage or wrist flower for an event, and I saved every one in case I ever needed them for something ;-)
They must have needed thousands for the wedding!
