During her outburst, Patterson was also reported behaving aggressively towards her employees, grabbing one of them by the arm and refusing to let staffers leave the office. According to the documents, she also threw various items at employees including a reflex hammer and also pulled her diploma off the wall, threw it on the floor and stomped on it.
Employees told Lowndes County officers Patterson may have been under the influence during the time of the incident. She is also suspected of arriving at her practice intoxicated on more than one occasion, documents said.
Pattersons medical license was suspended on March 5 after the GCMB ruled that her practice poses a threat to the public health, safety, and welfare, and imperatively requires emergency action."
Patterson gained her medical license in 1996 after graduating from the Medical College of Georgia in 1995. Before her February incident, she had no disciplinary citations or allegations of misconduct on her record.

That’s disturbing.
I may have to use that one...:)
I am no longer sure that women belong in any management position above line management.
Mrs. Thatcher would like a word with you...
there is more than one medication controlled bipolar practitioner in psych healthcare.
Sad when they become psychotic or suicide.
There isn’t anyone in healthcare who cannot pick up a phone and report a failing college to the local state medical association.
NP, PA, Nurses, techs.... all are able and can do it.
Just because there are a few outliers, doesn’t mean that the premise doesn’t mean the premise won’t hold.
As for the the male doctor any number of those possibilities are the reason for his outburst, except of course for menopause. In his case it could have been andropause.
Just because there are a few outliers, doesnt mean that the premise doesnt mean the premise wont hold.

that was a hiccup

I must admit I didn’t read the report, but I see it does say: had received allegations that Patterson had been under the influence at the office several times. She just looked like someone who might suffer extreme symptoms from menopause. 8>)
I wasn’t offended, I was just curious as to why that was your first suggestion, when alcohol, drugs or mental illness could easily be the issue.
There are millions of women in responsible positions who handle themselves reasonably, with good judgment, and who have the self-discipline to do so despite occasional physical issues.
I would suggest that the majority of women don’t experience much worse than tiredness due to loss of sleep and some short-term memory loss with menopause. The ones we hear about who go stark raving are the ‘outliers’.
IN all honesty, it was offered up more as a joke then a serious question. But nonetheless, she is within that age group, and menopause can produce some strange behavior in some women. So while it was meant to be taken as humor, it was also meant to be considered as a real possibility.
I understand. But women get kind of tired of all the menopause ‘humor’ on the part of men. Many men simply assume the validity of the nebulous but prevailing popular notions about it; while most of us women just slog through it without much difficulty - or with equanimity despite any difficulty.
I get it
Not a doctor I want!
You mean ANY comments about women’s issues from ignorant (wishful-thinking?) condescending sexist men are asinine.
‘Patterson’s situation “unfortunate,” and blamed issues happening in her life for her actions.’
Wow, sheriff sure is taking up for her.
She’s gone a bit beyond “unfortunate”. SHE needs help.
Sounds like DEC c. 1994.
Just stop it.
Sexist pronouncements about female issues are stupid and ignorant.
You know nothing about it.
