Yup. I hate going into Lowes and other retailers and maneuvering around a leashed pet. I have 2 dogs. They do not go shopping - ever - even at Petco. I do not want to meet your dog out in public.

I always carry a folding knife. It is very sharp. In such a circumstance, I fully intend to cut through the musculature of each side of the mouth.

After you’ve allowed a pit bull to rip your knee caps off and then feasted on your face...you can rest comfortably knowing you adhered to the law and didn’t save yourself with a legally owned and licensed firearm used in a self-defense situation.

I said nothing about a mass transit vehicle. I don’t use public transportation. I don’t live in NYC which makes legal gun ownership let alone obtaining a concealed carry license very difficult if not impossible.

You have simply ASSUMED I was placing myself in this scenario even though I never said that. You ASSUMED incorrectly yet your ignorance as to what I actually said has not stopped you from spouting off twice. Get it together and try actually reading what others write rather than adding a whole bunch of assumptions about what you think they might have meant.

Nasty neighbor, with apparently no discrimination to see what a dog might be up to before just blasting away.

Your GS “kept attacking” the horse or the man who fell off? I feel sorry for the horse now!

I’d also point out it’s a .22. Basically a plinker isn’t it, although better than nothing for sure.

While he overreacted, the point was situational awareness.

Discharging a firearm in certain scenarios is basically reckless endangerment.

Just because you don’t live in NYC doesn’t mean you won’t be in a tight situation inside a crowd, however small it is. Your discharge might be too risky and kill or maim other humans. ESPECIALLY if the dog is latched onto someone. (The only way then may be clear profile shot, no one around to the left or right of dog’s rump, IF the dog is not moving like a maniac.)

Definitely sympathize, but yes, we do have to consider our surrounding when wanting to fire.

Did you do it with a PBT type?

Just saying, the mechanics don’t bode too well, especially for a PBT nasty bastard game tenacious dog. I don’t care if they’re “only” 50 lbs (medium dog). It’s alot to string up.

And how do you get that belt around the neck so close to the victim (blocking access) and those jaws?

BTW, people kill themselves by hanging free, not leaving feet on the ground. You have to lift that dog clear for that, and that’s worse than lifting the dog even off the front feet only. The dog thus lifted becomes some 45 inches long let’s say - you have to be able to lift that far at least for full effect.

For some reason people think that because you move to the country that you can let them run loose. You can as long as they stay on your property but I know very few dogs that will. I have three outside dogs in a fenced yard, two half Black Mouth Mountain Curs and a Bloodhound. My three Feists are indoor/outdoor dogs but mostly indoor. They also have a fenced yard built onto the end of the house. We have a 44 acre farm and the only time my big dogs are not fenced is when we walk the farm and I’m with them. When we are done walking they go right back into their yard. None of my dogs are mean or aggressive so I keep them fenced mostly for their safety but also because it’s the law. If one caused a wreck I would be responsible. I don’t appreciate people that their dogs, especially the large ones, run loose and harass me on the road. I even complained to a neighbor once and he said his dogs had more right to be on the road than I did. WTH??? I don’t have many neighbors, thank goodness, but what I have all have half a dozen dogs running loose causing havoc.

The dogs are the main reason I mount a GoPro to my bike because if one ever grabbed me, all of a sudden nobody would know where it lived. With the GoPro I will have video of where it came from and what it did for the lawsuit that is sure to follow. I love dogs but I expect people to be as responsible as I am.

If you want your view to be concise, then write it.

Your post was CORRECTLY-interpreted as a knee-jerk, emotional reaction to an ignorant post based on what you wrote.

ASSUMING that others can read your mind is an order of magnitude worse than what you’re projecting...

No it wasn’t. I couldn’t have been more concise. I only wrote a sentence or two. I said nothing about “if I were in her place”. I only said what I would do if attacked.

A reckless statement regardless.

It’s never reckless to say you would defend yourself with deadly force against a vicious animal attack.

And that’s why you’re egregiously-wrong with a blanket statement.

If that’s concise, they you should be denied a CCW.

“people think that because you move to the country that you can let them run loose”

LOL you just made my mind wander a bit to paraphrase...

“Some people think that because it’s a Labrador they can let them run loose.”

Drives me nuts.

Nope! I am right and would not be charged by any DA in this state. I’ll have my ccw in a month or two. Cheers!
