Perhaps this is why.
Why Popovich has been such a complete and utter liberal tool since Trump was elected.
The terminal illness of his dear wife must have affected his rational thinking.
That’s the only explanation I can think of. Pop was an officer in the Air Force. They don’t usually trash talk Americans like he does.
In any event, as a native San Antonian who LOVED the Spurs, I do not follow them any more. Because of Pop.
Having said all this - my condolences to The Popovich family.
I think the same happened to George Carlin after his wife died. His act became real bitter and focused on attacking religion.
I need to correct myself. Popovich was a complete and utter liberal tool long before Trump was elected. Has been a tool for years.
But since election day? Pop has entered the Danger Zone usually reserved for idiots like Hillary and Biden.
“Erin Popovich Cause of Death: Wife of Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich Dies Aged 67”
Damn...I thought it was him.
Totally agree. I don’t care about his views but I do get offended that he seems to go out of his way to inject those views into the public, often with cheapshots.
Sorry about this man’s personal loss, I’m sure it’s very hard to lose a spouse after a long illness.
Having said that, politically, he is an absolutely disgusting and arrogant leftist Trump-hater (which means he hates me also because I’m a Trump supporter). He is my political ENEMY.
Sorry for his loss...but I hope he can empathize when people lose their loved ones to illegal invaders and stop badmouthing people who want these crimes stopped/prevented.
The headline blares "Cause of Death" and the story gives us no cause of death. I think the writer inserted "illness" as a placeholder until he/she could get an explanation and was told "respect their privacy, you little maggot reporter" and forgot to re-write the headline and lead paragraph.
Exceptionally shoddy journalism.
Now, notice Maggot Reporter doesn't attempt to get any quotes from the Spurs themselves. Just tearful condolences from LeBron James and Kevin Durant who were probably asked in post-game questioning by tv reporters and recirculated.
For his accomplishments, I have enormous respect for Popovich as a basketball coach. I have zero respect for Popovich as a social or political commentator.
All that said, I am an age when I am seeing friends and relatives and their spouses passing away because it's simply the age range people start dying. My sympathies are with Coach Popovich, his family, his teammates and the Spurs organization.
I'm curious why anyone in the news passes away and wish it would be publicly stated, even suicides. To tease us with the headline "Cause of Death" and then to tell us she died of "illness" is greatly unsatisfying.
I saw the headline with Erin Popovich” and thought it was the person portrayed by Julia Roberts many years ago in a movie that I never have watched.
I guess we now know why this guy is always in a bad mood.
Even when the Spurs were winning championships, this guy was always surly.
RIP.
I hate all rats glad one more died and cause other rats pain.
