A few weeks ago we asked our readers to vote for their least favorite songs from the 1990s, so it was the obvious next move to dial it back 10 years and see what you guys hated in the 1980s. The results are sure to infuriate a lot of people. For the record, I personally disagree with most of these selections. In fact, I love a lot of these songs...
10. Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...
9. Taco - 'Puttin' On The Ritz'...
8. Toni Basil - 'Mickey'...
7. Bobby McFerrin - 'Don't Worry Be Happy'...
6. Falco - 'Rock Me Amadeus'...
5. Men Without Hats - 'The Safety Dance'...
4. Wham! - 'Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)'....
3. Chris de Burgh - 'Lady In Red'....
2. Europe - 'The Final Countdown'...
1. Starship - 'We Built This City'...

So close, but 1976.
Mr. Roboto could be the greatest song of the 80s. So multi-cultural.
Desperado and Witchy Woman are my songs.
I guess those are before the 80s, though.
What the Hell happened to Stevie Wonder?
“Innervisions” was one of the greatest albums ever made, and then we does insipid crap like “I Just Called (To Say I Love You)”
Last Christmas was the worst.
Maybe the most iconic song of its generation ... distinctively American, and brings me right back to my long road trips through what is now "Trump Country" ... and even became a fixture in one of the best ad campaigns in history for Chevy trucks:
Best slide guitar from anyone not affiliated with the Allman Brothers, in my humble opinion. :-)
LOL, that was my addition too. George Michael pretty much sucks all around.
I can only imagine what "Shout" does to you.
“Jack and Diane.”
John Cougar Mellon-head
All this time I thought it was about a basketball player.
“She’s got Daryl Dawkins thighs”
“What the Hell happened to Stevie Wonder?”
I thought he could see better than he sings.
Anything and everything by Air Supply.
I like the large majority of them.

Once you have seen “Young Frankenstein,” Puttin’ on the Ritz is FOREVER sung “purrig a da RIIIIIZZZZZZZZ!”
Agreed. It’s a pointless exercise anyway; it’s like discussing the 10 worst fashions, or the 10 worst haircuts - from 40 years ago!
The times were what they were...
Any worst song compilation that does NOT include “The Pina Colada Song” is insufficient on its face.
Worst songs of the ‘80s...
All of them, every last one of them and I’m not saying that because I’m unhip old fart, I grew up from my teens to my 20s in the 1980s and I hated every last song that came out of that decade. It’s what I like to call “The MTV music holocaust” because before MTV they sold music on how good it was. When MTV came along the industry realized they didn’t have to have quality to sell anymore, all they needed was a catchy video. Music went from being based on sound to being based on image and it’s never been the same since with a few exceptions. Someone like Madonna would have never ever had a career in a million years with that whiny shrieking voice of hers if it wasn’t for MTV.
Someone did a funny parody called “Marty Feldman Eyes”.
When your name is “Taco” it’s all uphill from there.
