A few weeks ago we asked our readers to vote for their least favorite songs from the 1990s, so it was the obvious next move to dial it back 10 years and see what you guys hated in the 1980s. The results are sure to infuriate a lot of people. For the record, I personally disagree with most of these selections. In fact, I love a lot of these songs...
10. Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...
9. Taco - 'Puttin' On The Ritz'...
8. Toni Basil - 'Mickey'...
7. Bobby McFerrin - 'Don't Worry Be Happy'...
6. Falco - 'Rock Me Amadeus'...
5. Men Without Hats - 'The Safety Dance'...
4. Wham! - 'Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)'....
3. Chris de Burgh - 'Lady In Red'....
2. Europe - 'The Final Countdown'...
1. Starship - 'We Built This City'...

I really got tired of Safety Dance. Not a big fan of Final Countdown....
But I guess if I had to put a song on the list, it'd be that White Snake song "Here I Go Again". Overplayed big time.
thoughts?
Pretty much every single one. They stopped making good music after 1979. Even my favorite bands from the 70s became 80s artists, sigh...
what? I like 6,5, and 2! hate the rest though.
Buffet wrote and performed his best stuff in the 80s.
He is coasting now.
Nah. The worst was “I want your sex” by George Michael.
Nailed it with number 1. Could be worst song ever.
I would put “Undercover of the Night” by the Stones in there instead of “Safety Dance”.
My buddy got laid in college by telling a girl he wrote it.

thoughts?”
Sorry, but I love women who dance on cars. So hot. Here’s to you Tawny.
“Here I go again” rocks!
I’ve always hated “Eye of the Tiger.”
Lucky me...I wasn’t tormented by a single one of them! Never even heard of them. I quit contemporary music about 1976.
“Eileen” - Dexy’s Midnight Runners
I like them . . . all.
More like the 10 BEST Songs of the '80's!
I am an 80's baby and I grew up with those songs.
The 50s & 60s were the prime music years for me, but I remember Dire Straits from the early 80s. The rest, not so much.
I’m always amused that “We Built This City” is commonly referenced in Rolling Stone polls as a “worst song.” Now its of the 1980s. In a prior poll, it was the worst song of all time. I can just see the Lib rock critics bitterly crying that their first love, the cool, hip Grace Slick of Woodstock, went from a liberal icon to a Reagan 80s corporate sellout, complete with synthesizers backing her singing. The song itself isn’t that bad. It isn’t that good but it certainly isn’t the “worst.”
Any song that contains the lyric "Guilty feet ain't got no rhythm" qualifies to be on the list. Sadly, many considered this to be Michael's best and one of the best all-time. Music in general started a downward spiral in the 80s.
Other runner ups:
— Somebody’s Watching Me (Rockwell)
— I’ve Never Been To Me (Charlene, Charlene)
— Do They Know It’s Christmas? (Band Aid 30)
