Ava DuVernay's adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time is a colossal disappointment. The classic science fiction novel by Madeleine L'Engle has been turned into a sappy melodrama; utterly devoid of mystery or wonder. DuVernay's approach to the story is to emphasize its outcast element. The result is a fire hose of gushing positive reinforcement for the bullied, angst ridden protagonist. It reminded me of Al Franken's famous SNL skit, "Daily Affirmations with Stuart Smalley"; where he sits in front of a mirror saying, "You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like me". A Wrinkle in Time is essentially two hours of that, with Oprah Winfrey and special effects.

No wonder, given that the trailers and other promos feel NOTHING like L'Engle's classic novel, its sense of mystery and cosmic scope.
Disney went full SJW mode from the start of this project and it's going to take a bath on it. And they thought that Tomorrowland and John Carter were write-downs.
A Wrinkle In Time is a beloved classic among Christian families and schools. But for whatever reason Disney is ignoring them in favor of an extreme progressivism that mocks everyone who holds to a belief in an ultimate source of good beyond themselves. Jesus Himself is mentioned in the novel. Think that will happen in the movie? Instead it will probably be name-dropping "Barack".
Disney could have made a RIDICULOUS fortune with this movie and they are pi$$ing it all away. If there is any sanity left at Disney after this, anyone there who insists on injecting a gay agenda into Frozen 2 or the Star Wars franchise will be dragged kicking and screaming into the middle of Main Street U.S.A. and shot without a last cigarette.
Hey Oprah, John Travolta called. He wants his Battlefield: Earth back.
I liked “John Carter”.
“Tomorrowland” was a stinker...although it was a good excuse to look at George Clooney for two hours!
Gamespot gave it a horrible review.
Oprah could not allow Jesus to be mentioned in a film of hers - it might deflect the spotlight from her.
The Entertainment Business isn't much of a business. They could earn more money if they wanted to, but their primary interests are social engineering and political activism. Just look at Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ". Huge money. Did anyone really try to follow that up? The money was on the table, and they walked away, because Christianity is icky.
I’ll be honest. I am not going to watch anything that has Oprah in it. I don’t know why, but I just can not stand that woman. It’s not her being black, because I like SWAT with Shemar Moore in it. And Black Lightning, although I may stop watching it because of the crappy Xanax rap music in it, and the obligatory lesbian daughter.
She the female version of 0bama.
Disney seems to have altered my beloved childhood book beyond recognition.
Makes no difference how bad it is, it will make money.
JMHO, but two hours is way too long!
Its her self-rightousness. Telling people how they should live their lives or dispense advise in matters she has no experience with, i.e., raising kids.
This movie sounds like a true stinker.
Meg's consternation and unrequited love is her precocious, genius younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe).
Huh?
Meg loves Charles Wallace and Charles Wallace loves her back. That was quite clear in the book.
Is there a new definition of "unrequited" out there I have never heard of?
A big, fat “Nopra” scale fail?
Disappointed in Noah Wylie. I know everyone needs a job but... c'mon! And why do they put this garbage on TV?!
Homosexuals...
First they simply wanted acceptance.
Then they wanted endorsement.
Now they insist on being celebrated!
Eff ‘em!
Give them a break. After all it aint easy working a gay couple; an illegal alien familiy being persecuted by an unfair immigration policy and at the same time highlight the plight if poor DACA children; demonize Israel; bring up global warming and blaming it on the U.S.; provide evidence that god does not exist; and reminding everyone that Trump won the election only because of Russia meddling in the election. After all it takes a lot of effort to cram all of that into a couple of hours of screen time.
I wish there were a like icon here, because I agree whole heartedly with this comment. I dont want to post, however. Oh, geez, I just did.
Run-roh! Queen Oprah isnt going to be amused!
