... Liberals roll their eyes at the claim that President Obama violated democratic norms or abused his power. But putting aside the specific arguments, conservatives saw plenty of abuses and violations, from the IRS scandals and Benghazi to the Iran deal. Obama said many times he couldnt unilaterally implement the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program because he wasnt a king. Then he did it anyway.
And the process repeats itself, getting worse and more egregious each time. When I criticize Trump, the first response from countless Republicans is, Oh yeah, why was it okay for Obama!? If I point out it wasnt and that I said as much, they switch gears to how we need a fighter who gets things done and doesnt care about the old rules. ...
Yes, there is a cult of Trump. But thats because we have a cult of the presidency in this country. It infects not just our understanding of the office, but of the person holding it. When Obama acted like a king by his own definition liberals cheered, because their loyalty was to the man, not the office. Its getting worse with Trump, but this dynamic has been getting worse for decades. And I suspect it wont improve much when hes gone.

Universal characteristic of Never Trumpers... never expected to explain their comments with examples
Liberalism is the cult.
Dennis Prager has mentioned a Never Trump writer who wrote a piece commending the President for the accomplishments of his first year, and ends it by saying he still wished Hillary had won. That smacks of cultish group-think and irrationality.
I have supported Trump since the first GOP debate. I wanted someone who was going to throw the swamp creatures into the fire, or who would at least make his best effort. Trump was the only one who fit the bill. I have felt alienated from the goings-on in Washington for some time. I look at our country’s so-called leadership, who often remind me of the old stiffs that used to sit atop Lenin’s tomb and review parades: arrogant, condescending, in no way worthy of their positions, who take MY country and do whatever they damn well please with it. My vote for Trump was my way of yelling, ENOUGH! If Goldberg doesn’t get that, then he needs to find another line of work, or resign himself to irrelevancy.
Jonah la douche.
And Ntl Review leads the pack for NO credibility left.
He’s desperate to be relevant. Pathetic!
*snort* He couldnt buy a pair of pants....
What cult? If there is a cult in the Repub Party it is the NeverTrump cult who are a bunch of cowards wanting to be loved by the left.
Just checked wiki, Lucianne Goldberg is his mother.
Hey Judas, if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.
I DID click the link and your instincts are 100% correct.
I dont know who the hell Goldberg thinks hes writing to; conservatives dont go for condemnation by allusion.
If youre going to accuse a man of wrongdoing, you GD sure better have some specific charges.
And this criticism of his behavior elicits strong reaction, because its Prima Facie proof the professional backbiters are focusing on style over substance. No doubt because, they lack the integrity to admit their opposition to his substance.
This jackass must think hes writing about petulant children!
I hope hes kept his skills up. Im sure hell be teaching English in the not too distant future.
meh
Jonah is and always has been a jerk
NeoCons hate Trump. They want to wage war against Russia & Trump isn’t cooperating.
I admit that I am part of The Constitution of the United States Cult.
Funny how that works, isnt it?
In fact, it happens SO often one might start to think they liked things better before Trump.
How about obama’s cult and his paid fainters?
Projection.
But that first blush evaporated almost immediately and quickly turned into, "Why am I even reading this junk?"
Goldberg and the NR have not changed their #NeverTrump rhetoric much at all from Trump's campaign, even though he ended up winning the election and has had many conservative successes so far.
The National Review crew reminds me of the democRATS sitting on their hands at the SOTU. What would Trump have to do to please these "conservatives"?
I think the biggest problem preventing them from endearing themselves to Trump, is their public embarrassment and poor credibility issues in having to admit Trump is doing a good job, much to their chagrin.
Trixie, you need to straighten that boy out!
