Awesome launch.

Two boosters landed back on the ground.

No confirmation on center landing on ship yet.
Feed was cut due to vibrations on ship.
Affects antenna for feed.

The Red Roadster is heading to Mars.

Waiting to hear on that, too. Otherwise, flawless launch, and very spectacular.

Yeah, they said that happens often as it’s landing.

This is a test launch. They’d not fired anything nearly this complex yet.
The odds of failure were unacceptably high for any meaningful payload.
So ... given the opportunity for fantastic advertising, the CEO of both companies put his personal car on his company’s flagship rocket.

Normally such launches (per NASA et al) use concrete blocks or buckets of water.
Launching a car is much more interesting.

That was surreal watching it on the livestream. A good buddy of mine is down at Port Canaveral watching. He used to do ground systems for the Shuttle in the 1980s.

Typical. Landing rockets tend to blow out cameras and/or antennas during touchdown.

Odds (and cost) of failure were very high. Elon wanted to downplay expectations as much as possible.

Yes, testing Tesla aerodynamics at escape velocity.
