I am patiently waiting for the GM (Genetically Modified) Mouthwash to be released in the USA. One treatment and you are cavity free for life. Already available in the UK.

To test this idea, Sharpe and his fellow researchers drilled holes into the molars of mice, mimicking cavities. They then soaked tiny collagen sponges (which are made from the same protein found in dentin) in various drugs known to stimulate Wnt signaling, including tideglusib, a compound that has been investigated in clinical trials for its potential to treat Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders.

Tide pods? OK, I'm just kidding...

I think they are also looking at stem cells as an alternative to knee replacements.

With today’s technology, there are
probably a few treatment alternatives
that just haven’t been disclosed. What
would happen to all of the toothpaste,
dental floss, tooth whitener, mouth rinse,
dentures, implants, denture adhesives,
and dentists, if a miracle cure
was suddenly “discovered” ? After all,
if one had to do nothing but a simple
rinse every six months of so, all of
these manufacturer’s would be out of
business...

I guess this means that my dentist’s assistant with the nice
super structure won’t be relaying on my shoulder for support. Damn! What’s a man to look forward to in that den of misery! Dilly Dilly!

Doubtful this would last a lifetime.

You will be kissed by people with the unaltered bacteria and therefore they will transfer their bacteria into your mouth. Share utensils, someone uses your toothbrush, drink from the same glass.

I wish it were here now!
I just spent $4,600 for 2 titanium implants....plus more for the crowns.
The teeth were good but I had an infection in the bone and they had to yank out the teeth to get to the infection.

For as long as I can remember, there has always been news circulating of a vaccine which would forever prevent cavities & dental erosion.

However with the basic economics of people needing the services of a dentist to repair their neglect & indulgence of sweet & starchy foods, that vaccine will never ever see the release to the light of day. It would deprive every dentist 80% of their income as the need for their services will drop dramatically.

If this eventually makes it out, I wonder if they will eventually be able to remove old fillings and rebuild those teeth as well. Would seem that the only ones not repairable would be those with root canals or that have already been pulled.

I think dentists attend the same kind of seminars veterinarians attend. These seminars have one purpose...teaching attendees how to squeeze more dollars out of their customers.

The other day at the vet...”Did you know dogs can get the flu? While the flu isn’t transmissible from humans to dogs, it is a horrible flu season for humans, so...why take a chance? We just happen to have canine flu vaccine on hand, and this will be all we get this year. Do you want to protect your dog?”.

Dentists are the same way. “Hey, we have some of this nifty new spray for oral hygiene. One spritz and your mouth smells fresh all day. You can’t get this at the drug store...it’s only available at dental offices. How about a bottle?”
