Boats and helicopters have joined the search for the chief executive of sportswear maker Quiksilver, after his empty boat was found washed ashore in south-west France.
The port authority of the Atlantic beach town of Capbreton said the search was launched after Pierre Agnes' empty boat was found washed up Tuesday in nearby Hossegor.
Maritime authorities said two boats and three helicopters are involved in the search.
The area is known for intense, sometimes dangerous waves that are prized by surfers.

You must not get out much. Quiksilver has been a big surf/summer clothing company for 30+ years.
Thanks, I’ve visited surf shops in the last 30 years, but can’t say I’ve ever noticed brand names.
I only knew of quicksilver before now as a colloquial name for Hg.
Resembles a skinny Mike Roe. Beautiful wife-daughter-girl friend, spends time in the sun, may have heart trouble. Boat name “Mascare’” The bench top behind him looks busy, like my workbench.
I wish him well, but he is in the Atlantic, not the Gulf of Mexico.
All my California grandsons wear Quicksilver.
His boats name is Mascaret. With a T.
I have read in many of these cases they find the body with an open fly. The guy has a few beers, stands on the side of the boat to pee and falls in.
Did he have any connections to the Clinton Foundation?

Ok. It was not in the picture.
Hope he was wearing Under Armour.
It means big wave from a tide or something close to that.
I wasnt trying to be witchy. We have a boat and Im big on boat names. Lol. I always notice them.
A mascaret is a tidal bore. When a wave from the ocean goes upstream against the current in a river, bay, or inlet.
Thx! I was close. Lol
I always notice boat names and their meaning.
Had that happen once in center console open-fisherman. Guy was taking a leak off the back when we took off.
We got about a mile away before we noticed he was missing. followed the wake and found him waving at us.
