Another morning I almost spit out my coffee from laughing. Let me see if I have this straight. The three moron, liberal, tax and spend and kick the can down the road Governors of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey are filing suit against the federal government because they say limiting their taxpayers' ability to deduct the outrageously high income taxes in their states is unfair, which has to be unconstitutional.
First off, when one of these idiots screams that something is "unfair," put your hand on your wallet. Of course, the unfairness isn't in the fact that they are extracting 10% of their citizens' hard earned money. Of course not. The unfairness is that the mean old feds have limited the amount of that tax burden those citizens can deduct on their federal taxes.
Having lived in Connecticut for decades and worked in both New York and New Jersey, I've read many of these "unfairness" articles in the past weeks. What I really don't understand is that not ONCE did Malloy or Cuomo or Murphy say "Hey...instead of bitching about how our citizens can't deduct these outrageous taxes, let's figure out how to have them pay an amount UNDER the federal maximum deduction in the first place."
Come to think of it, when was the last time you heard ANY politician on either side suggest spending LESS of our tax money? I can't recall a single instance. In fact, they want more.
In fact, Rep. Jason Rojas, D-East Hartford, head of the CT General Assembly tax-writing committee, thinks we need to raise the gas tax "to avert a crisis in the transportation program." You can read it here.
The first thing that popped into my mind is Howard Stern's Stuttering John question he shouted to Ringo Starr: "What did you do with the money?" Ringo replied "What money?" John said "The money your mamma gave you for singing lessons."
In FY 2015 the State of Connecticut raised $500 million from the 25 cent gas tax. Half a billion. What did they do with the money?
So I drove from my home in Fairfield County, CT to the Princeton, NJ area last week. I was on the NJ Turnpike for 36 miles. I paid nine bucks in tolls. Then, God forbid on the way home I went over the GWB. Fifteen bucks. I have an eight cylinder Dodge Charger and the tolls were more than the gas (which also had a tax on it).
Seriously. Enough with the gimmicks. When my bills are too high I SPEND LESS. Yes, I try to make more money, but I also try to spend less.
Let's cut the crap on being "fair." Liberals don't want fair. They want to soak everyone they possibly can for as much as they can, and give it to people who don't deserve it as long as those people can perpetuate their time in power. It's that simple. Suing everyone for every reason in order to get what you want isn't very smart. Unfortunately it works though.
Can't wait to see how the Federal judges torture the law and constitution to give these losers what they want.
Too bad those States don’t have any Senators representing the State Gov’t....
Subsidizing New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut shifts the burden of funding the treasury to other federal taxpayers.
These states should pass legislation that forces taxpayers to repatriate any tax savings they realize from the federal tax cuts back to the state on their state return. Should go over really well.
If Cuomos theory is that the GOP increased taxes on the middle class and cut taxes for the rich then he should compensate by passing a state law and increasing taxes on the rich and cutting taxes for the middle class. Otherwise hes a hypocrite.
These Dem lawsuits are to benefit the top wage earners and property owners in their states, as they are the only ones negatively effected by the new tax law. I am one of them. This new law limits are federal deductions for state income tax and property taxes.
Oddly, our ability to deduct 100% fo these state and local taxes is ALREADY limited by the alternate minimum tax, which was passed by liberals to see to it that top wage earners and property owners paid their “fair share”. The AMT discriminates against these states. Will this suit, if successful, ( it will not be) also necessarily throw out the AMT?
As per the Los Angeles Times, only the top 18% of CA residents are negatively impacted by the new tax law. In New York it is the top 16%.
It’s nice to see the Dems coming to the rescue of top earners, like me.
This crazy... just for show. Congress makes laws, not the President!
Maybe they’ll get the entire Internal Revenue Code declared unconstitutional!
