Guggenheim offers Trump a gold toilet for White House: report

The Guggenheim Museum offered President Trump a solid gold toilet from its collection as a "long-term loan" for the White House.

Trump and first lady Melania had asked to borrow a Van Gogh painting from the museum, but the Guggenheim responded that it could not accommodate the request and offered the toilet instead, according to The Washington Post.

“We are sorry not to be able to accommodate your original request, but remain hopeful that this special offer may be of interest," curator Nancy Spector wrote in an email to the White House, according to the Post.

The Guggenheim receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Seems to me that needs to be fixed.

You mean the liberals lied about there already being a gold toilet already in the White House! /sarc off.

If they actually were both honest with a coherent narrative, maybe I would take them more seriously, until then, I will make a joke and a mockery of them.

It’s totally outrageous for a museum to engage in petty toilet insults when the WH requested a painting. Do they think all their guests and patrons are radical Dims?
This is a situation where FLOTUS’s press secretary should craft a devastating response; I have been impressed with her statements. Or of course there’s always Sarah Sanders.

I have long believed that the National Endowment for the Arts needs to be required to rely 100% on private funding.

Real art finds audiences of people who are willing to pay for it.

Any art that needs government funding, and thus cannot find a paying audience, is nothing but propaganda.

President Trump should take it anyway.

I don’t know if this is real or not, but in general, the level of disrespect, ridicule and abuse my President is subjected to on a daily basis is really getting me down.

The other “side” certainly doesn’t ever have to deal with it. They suck the joy out of everything. F*ckers.

If sophomoric political pranks like this get you down, you need to lighten up or get out of the game.

the guggenheim is shaped like a toilet.
Any funding to them should be stopped.
The mere fact that they have a gold toilet shows they know nothing about art. A van Gogh should not be in the same building.

“The Guggenheim receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.”

I am sure that once the GOP takes over the House and Senate, withdrawing funding from the Guggenheim will be at top of the Republican Agenda.

Take it, use it for a fund-raiser somehow (like how many coins fit in a gold toilet) and give the money to a veterans organization just to spit in the face of the NEA who would otherwise ignore them.

The Guggenheim Foundation has a rule of $170 million and they value their art collection, which is worth billions, a One Dollar.

Guggenheim receives no direct federal funding.

Trump should accept the offer and display it prominently below a picture of Nancy Spector with a caption that indicates that she personally choose that piece to be displayed in the White House. And it should remain until the end of his second term.
