The U.S. Marine Corps has picked the Heckler & Koch M27 as its new infantry rifle. Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller confirmed the selection in an interview with Military.com.
The new rifle is part of a wider overhaul of the Marines infantry gear. Jarheads are also getting new communications equipment, body armor, suppressors and night-vision optics.

The COD boys will be cheering. Same rifle in the Black Ops 2 game.
I guess the German army doesnt need them, so we get it.
LWRC is a variant of the AR series. The HK is their own new design.
Some criticisms of the M27 IAR I’ve read.
- Heavier by 2 lbs.
- Bolt life only around 9,300 rds.
- Not completely trusted acting as an LMG. M249 will be still be kept at the company level. M27 is at squad or fire teams.
- Parts not made in the USA.
- Marines have switched to the M855A1 that is hard on barrel life. M27 is already a costly weapon - going to make maintenance costs very high.
Buy American!
POTUS or SECDEF needs to stop the procurement!
When you get one, don’t take it in your boat. You could have a terrible boating accident...
LOL I was going to check the code L8R. I’ve had issues with sizing in the past and my bacon didn’t raise my sugar enough.
Now THAT’S an assault rifle. Somebody ping the NYT. I’m sure these things are out killing innocent Americans as we speak.
Every HK I've ever handled has been heavier than hell.
What's the weight on this puppy? M4 is around 7 pounds with a full mag, I think?
Yep....it has the signature characteristic required of all assault rifles.....its black. That means its evil in lib world.
waddaya think?
There is no such thing as a "pic too big to post."
Posting a picture this way: <img src="http://nationalinterest.org/files/styles/main_image_on_posts/public/main_images/usmc-120427-m-sr181-035.jpg" width="150">
results in a pic that is 150 pixels wide, like this:
You can change the "150" to be any width you wish. Or you can use [height="150"] and the pic will be 150 pixels high.
But you can get even fancier. Replacing [width="150"] with [width="75%"] will result in a picture that is 75% as wide as the window you're viewing the pic on, no matter how big or small the screen. Like this:
Of course, you can make the percentage anything you want it to be.
....its black.
= = =
OOPS you have mis-appropriation of Chromatics.
What! Still using that varmint cartridge?
5.56mm
Seriously, its still just a .223, and basically an M-4 platform with piston system. Is cleaning an M-4 so bad that they have to go out an procure a whole new platform?
Not that I don't like this M27.
Ive had issues with sizing in the past and my bacon didnt raise my sugar enough.

That explains it - say no more.
That was fast !
This Hk salesman is salesman of the decade ! I hope he enjoys a nice retirement.
Because I think I may who did that.
