How many fired coaches are they still paying? It’s possible they can’t afford any more.

Me, I’d can him and replace him with a guy off the street willing to do it for 30K a year, find some guy in a bar who sounds like he understands football. He literally couldn’t do any worse, only as bad.

I'm little surprised only Pete is going with the Panthers (so far, Enterprise? Jim?). 2 picks for Buffalo.

I do wear long underwear in this weather. Gotta, the cold cuts right through the pants.

It’s warming up on Sunday, and snowing of course.

Supposded to be pushing 50 (check mail in t-shirt) next Wednesday and Thursday with rain before going back down into the 20’s. Gonna be icey.

Oopsie - I honestly thought I had submitted. Anyway, I'm in for all the home teams.

Kansas City
Rams
Jacksonville
New Orleans

The case for Atlanta to beat the Rams is a good one. Playoff experience does count. But to me, the Gurley machine is going to clip their wings.

Championship droughts for this set in the playoffs:

2016-New England Patriots (defending champions)
2009-New Orleans Saints
2008-Pittsburgh Steelers
1999-St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams
1995-Carolina Panthers & Jacksonville Jaguars (neither has won a championship)
1969-Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl IV champions against Minnesota)
1966-Atlanta Falcons (not having won a championship, 2 Super Bowl appearances including last year’s)
1965-Buffalo Bills-(AFL Champions that season, last Super Bowl appearance was XXVIII against Dallas)
1961-Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans-(AFL champions that season, franchise has never appeared in a Super Bowl).
1961-Minnesota Vikings (never having won a championship, last Bowl appearance was in Super Bowl XI in 1976 against Oakland)
1960-Philadelphia Eagles (1960 NFL champions against Green Bay Packers, last Bowl appearance was in Super Bowl XXXIX against New England Patriots).

Predicted Winners

NFL Wildcard Weekend

Kansas City
L.A. Rams
Jacksonville
New Orleans

College Football Playoff National Championship

Alabama

Offense vs. Defense Matchups and Analysis

Favorites all win here except for the Rams vs. Atlanta game where Atlanta has a chance to upset the Rams.

Saturday, Jan 6, 2018

AFC: #16 Tennessee at #10 Kansas City 2:35pm ESPN/ABC

Overall rank scoring rank ydg rank
#10 KC Offense #6: 2 Pass 1 Run
#16 Tenn Defense #17: 12 Pass 4 Run

#16 Tenn Offense #19: 18 Pass 14 Run
#10 KC Defense #15: 19 Pass 23 Run

KC outranks Tenn 10 to 16 in overall scoring strength. KC’s mediocre defense should slow Tenn’s mediocre offense. KC’s strong, balanced offense should score enough to win, especially in the pass. Winner: KC.

NFC: #11 Atlanta at #3 L.A. Rams 6:15pm NBC

Overall rank scoring rank ydg rank
#3 Rams Offense #1: 4 Pass 7 Run
#11 Atl Defense #8: 8 Pass 16 Run

#11 Atl Offense #15: 4 Pass 7 Run
#3 Rams Defense #12: 12 Pass 30 Run

The Rams outrank Atlanta 3 to 11 in overall scoring strength as well as in offensive and defensive scoring. However, Atlanta beats the Rams in overall yardage rankings mainly because of the Ram’s terrible defense against the run. When a team ranks higher in points but not yards, it can signal an impending upset. This could be an upset by Atlanta. The Ram’s excellent passing game will be slowed down by Atlanta’s strong pass defense but they should score with the help of a strong rung game. On the other hand, Atlanta’s excellent passing game should move the ball against a mediocre pass defense and their strong running game has little opposition against a very weak run defense. Both teams should run mostly. A squeaker, but I pick the Rams by a nose (or a horn). Winner: Rams.

Sunday, Jan 7, 2018

AFC: #21 Buffalo at #3 Jacksonville 11:05am CBS

Overall rank scoring rank ydg rank
#3 Jags Offense #5: 13 Pass 7 Run
#21 Bills Defense #18: 8 Pass 23 Run

#21 Bills Offense #22: 25 Pass 14 Run
#3 Jags Defense #2: 1 Pass 23 Run

This game could be the least entertaining of the bunch but what might be lots of one-sided interceptions could liven things up a bit. The Jags outrank the Bills 3 to 21 in overall scoring strength as well as in offensive and defensive scoring. The Jags strong running game should move the ball and score against the Bills weak running defense. The Bills should also mostly run. If the Bills try to pass much, the top-notch Jags pass defense will swallow them up and almost certainly get some turnovers and possibly a defense score or two. Except for some possible Jag defensive TD’s, looks like a low-scoring running game. Winner: Jags.

NFC: #6 Carolina at #12 New Orleans 2:40pm FOX

Overall rank scoring rank ydg rank
#6 Saints Offense #4: 1 Pass 1 Run
#12 Carolina Defense #11: 19 Pass 10 Run

#12 Carolina Offense #12: 22 Pass 7 Run
#6 Saints Defense #10: 16 Pass 27 Run

The Saints outrank Carolina 6 to 12 in overall scoring strength as well as in offensive and defensive scoring. The Saints should pass and score against Carolina’s mediocre pass defense. Carolina’s best bet offensively is to run against a very weak Saint’s running defense. The Saints will go ahead and never look back. Winner: Saints.

BONUS: Sunday, Jan 8, 2018

National College Championship Alabama vs. Georgia 5pm ESPN

Current rank scoring rank ydg rank
#3 Georgia Offense #23: 9 Pass 8 Run
#4 Alabama Defense #1: 1 Pass 1 Run

#4 Alabama Offense #9: 13 Pass 5 Run
#3 Georgia Defense #3: 2 Pass 20 Run

This is why we have the top-four playoffs. The bottom two were the best and the best of the best is #4 Alabama who they almost did not get put back in the top four because the Tide lost a game late in the season. Not sure why losing a game late in the season makes you worse that a team that loses one or two games early in the season. Some of this ranking system looks a little like how they judge a prizefight by remembering the latter rounds better than the early rounds.

This will be a well-played, low-scoring, knock-down drag out defensive battle extraordinaire all the way. The best part of the game will be when Georgia has the ball. Alabama’s top scoring defense in the country and top pass and run yardage defensive in the country will slow down Georgia’s excellent offense in both run and pass. ‘Bama’s excellent run game should score against Georgia’s run defense. Alabama will have to be careful in their passing game against Georgia’s #2 pass defense in the country. Winner: Alabama.

Corrections:

The Ram’s excellent passing game will be slowed down by Atlanta’s strong pass defense but they should score with the help of a strong running game.

Re: 1961-Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans-(AFL champions that season, franchise has never appeared in a Super Bowl).

Super Bowl XXXIV was between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion St. Louis Rams and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Tennessee Titans to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1999 season. The Rams defeated the Titans by the score of 23–16, capturing their first Super Bowl win and first NFL championship since 1951. The game, played on January 30, 2000 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta...

The Titans were in Super Bowl XXXIV vs. the Rams. They lost by literally one yard.

New England could potentially play at home both playoff games and then travel to Minnesota that played at home the entire playoffs.
I wish New England played this weekend just cause of the weather they are having.

And to all the anti football ranters. You are the only one that cares that you don’t watch football. You are the only one affected by you not watching football. I for one will not let a few retarded liberals ruin something I enjoy just cause they try and infect thier politics into it. As far as I am concerned the left dislikes the NFL because it is a great American tradition which they hate and I will not help them take it apart because a few lefty idiots tried to use the NFL as thier soapbox.

Thanks for pinging!

Pats will sail, SAIL through this weekend. Then beat KC handily, have trouble with Jags until start of fourth q, beat Vikings by 6 after being behind 1ce in the first q.

First semi-boring Pats super bowl win (but still a better game than 70% of non-pats super bowls)
