119 years after the Treaty of Paris, which enabled the transfer of ownership over Puerto Rico from Spain to the United States, Madrid and Washington have virtually finalized an agreement to return the jurisdiction of the Caribbean island to the European country, confirmed endi.com sources at the three countries.
The deal, which has been negotiated in secret for at least two years, is not official yet, but it has the approval of President Donald Trump of the United States and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain, and all that remains is to finalize certain technical details to make the announcement.
An announcement was expected before the end of the year, but it is possible that the emergence of last-minute complications delays approval of the transfer until the first days of 2018. The agreement has to be approved by the US Congress, which was occupied until the last hours of this last session in the federal tax reform and did not have time to address this issue.

Spain can take California too if Mexico does not want it.
Actually it says: this story is not true. Happy Day of the Holy Innocents!
Its been this kind of April Fools for well over 8 years in this country.
misrepresents their content in such a way that the information seems real. It is a freedom given by media agents to give free rein to their sense of humor,
Who gave this "FREEDOM TO LIE" to the media? I doubt that it is a Christian ideal. More likely implanted by Herod's clan (liberals, I will assure you!) when the plan of the day was to murder as many infants as you could find. You know, kinda the same as when you get retroactive taxation. The legal mandated age of abortion was raised to 2 years old...........
The media has such a unique sense of humor (dont youdare call it an agenda).
Hey HangnJudge, you got $20 I could "borrow"?
Just when you thought FAKE NEWS was a relatively new thing.
Not today in a Spanish country, nice idea though
The Spaniards don’t want Puerto Rico as it’s just an island full of impoverished, resentful, & unproductive natives.
Which makes that April Fools’ headline much more funny in Spain than it is here.
Communist Cuba, on the other hand, would jump at the chance to add P.R. to their totalitarian state. All it takes is a plebiscite.
Please give ‘em California as well.
Unbelievable.
The mayor of San Juan would be very pleased to join Raul. She might even get to be his successor.
Cebolla, lol!
