(CNN)You don't have to be black to understand how Kwanzaa works.
All it takes is a kind heart and an open mind willing to learn the history of the holiday that celebrates African-American culture. Here's some common Kwanzaa knowledge everyone should know.
You can spell it Kwanzaa or Kwanza
Regardless, it's still pronounced "kwahn-zuh." You can listen to this nice man say it here.
~~~SNIP~~~
You can celebrate both Christmas and Kwanzaa
They're not mutually exclusive. Karenga wanted Kwanzaa to be a nonreligious holiday for African-American families to come together and celebrate their ancestral roots. So you can have your merry Christmas and a happy Kwanzaa, too.
Yep, I think I’ve heard less and less about Kwanzaa in the past five to 10 years than previously. I know the mainstream media have tried to push it as a mainstream common holiday observance, but I think they have given that up.
I’ve heard that less than 5% of blacks observe Kwanzaa.
A: She's over at Ainty Esther's with Malia and Sharia.
20 years ago I invented a demotivational poster and posted it here on FR.
It pictured a reverent female lighting candles.
The text said
“KWANZAA: The only holiday celebrated solely by white middle school teachers”.
Oldsters may remember it.
A fake celebration. Don’t need to know about it other than it’s a fraud.
Kwanzaa doesn’t discriminate
Clearly it’s a holiday created for African-Americans. But just like people other than Mexicans celebrate Cinco de Mayo, other races and ethnic groups are welcome to participate in the Kwanzaa rituals.
Bull*$**$. In this politically correct world of “cultural appropriation” being bigoted and all that, there’s no way that it is ok, per liberals own criteria, for whites to observe Kwanzaa. No way this is allowable. What the heck are the liberals at CNN who put up this puff piece about Kwanzaa smoking?????
I saw that posted a couple days ago...
I want a Lexus
This fake “holiday” was invented by a bocipus Black animal while he was in prison for among other things pressing a hot iron on a Black woman’s face.It is only”celebratred” by white liberal government school teachers
See link at #26.
To me the essay is spot on and cuts trough all the noise.
Is there a “Black Friday” associated with kwanzaa? With reduced prices, mall riots and mayhem????
“So this is Kwanzaa, and what have you done?”
“How many whities have you sucker punched in the mouth?”
Amazing they found a way to racialize Christmas and then wonder why there seems to be so much "racism"....
LOL:
>> But just like people other than Mexicans celebrate Cinco de Mayo, other races and ethnic groups are welcome to participate in the Kwanzaa rituals.<<
Mexicans don’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It was invented by whites in the USA to sell beer and tequila.
Tells you all you need to know about just how dumb and ignorant this lady is.
You made that? LOL...I just went on the Internet looking for it! GREAT job!
It's stupid...
Let them knock themselves out.
20 years ago I worked in a retail store that sold a lot of Christmas Stuff - trees, lights, ornaments, etc. That same year the manager decided to order a complete display of Kwanzaa crap, Cards, wrapping paper, etc. Not one Kwanzaa item was sold - not even at 90% off. We ended up packing it all up at the end of January and hiding it in the back room.
Other than a small number of Black Panther militant types, Kwanzaa never really took off among most American blacks as a legitimate holiday to be taken seriously. Most people celebrate whatever holidays they grew up with, an a completely ad hoc, politicized sham couldn't really supplant Christmas except among the most loud-mouthed radicals. The inventor of Kwanzaa probably would have been more successful if he just agitated for a an Afro-centric Christmas - i.e. something phony, but not so obviously so.
