A non-black person's guide to Kwanzaa
CNN ^ | Dec. 26, 2017 | Kendall Trammell

(CNN)You don't have to be black to understand how Kwanzaa works.

All it takes is a kind heart and an open mind willing to learn the history of the holiday that celebrates African-American culture. Here's some common Kwanzaa knowledge everyone should know.

You can spell it Kwanzaa or Kwanza

Regardless, it's still pronounced "kwahn-zuh." You can listen to this nice man say it here.

~~~SNIP~~~
You can celebrate both Christmas and Kwanzaa
They're not mutually exclusive. Karenga wanted Kwanzaa to be a nonreligious holiday for African-American families to come together and celebrate their ancestral roots. So you can have your merry Christmas and a happy Kwanzaa, too.
Enjoy!
Kwanzaa is not a holiday, but a reaffirmation and re-commitment of black hatred toward whites.
It is a race war rally cry and recruitment push.
Kwanza is the one day of the year that the negroes DON’T air their grievances.
Can White People come together and celebrate their roots? How about White looking people who have Black dna? How about Black looking people who have white dna ?
What about ?????
How about emphasizing our shared humanity and ignore the racial identity?
Kwanza was a completely made up religion and highly racist. It never really caught on. I’ve seen it as comedy since day one.
I am proud to say that I’ve never known anyone (knowingly) who celebrates this fake “holiday” nor know of any celebrations in my circle of existence. (and I do know plenty of black people.)
Correct.
The inventor of this “holiday” was a Black Panther and convicted felon that did 3 years for assault and false imprisonment (i.e., kidnapping). He also changed his name at some point — maybe after his conviction, but who cares?
A true hero, without a doubt... (do I really need the sarcasm tag?)
