I don't smoke either, but Eric Garner was an perfect example of how a free market should work. When states tax a product beyond reason, there will always follow entrepreneurs like Eric Garner to meet market demands.
Link to taxes on a pack of cigarettes by states. NY is # 1 but not quite $5.85. VA is #50 at $0.30

...
He wasn’t placed in a chokehold.
In high-tax areas like NYC, “loosies” give tobacco addicts an affordable fix while they wait for their black market contact to come through. They only people paying full “NYC” prices for a pack of cigarettes are the tourists.
So in terms of police cracking down on Garner, the real responsibility lies with Bloomberg, NYPD's Bill Bratton and Garner himself for resisting arrest. Idiot laws created by socialists to gin up revenue, lead to this death. And will someone explain to me why Garner should have been allowed to sell untaxed cigs when other stores on the block were required to pay tax on the cigarettes they sold ?
Every police department has limits...bummer for her.
(just speculating, calm down)
I think the official cause of death was a heart attack.
His daughter is big, but not THAT big.
I know it is "possible" for a woman to die that young (27) from a heart attack, but I wager she had some kind of congenital heart defect.
Either that, or some ingested substances on board.
Women typically get MIs 10 years after men with equivalent risk factors, so this is similar to a 17 year old male dying of an MI.
Rare.
Hewrt disease asthma and stupid seems to run in the family....and no...he was not choked to death.
Wish her well...
That pretty much captures everything you need to know about why this country is completely fouled up.
What makes it unlikely that this country will ever be fixed is that even here on FreeRepublic you'll find people who call this slob an "entrepreneur."
Most people who have severe heart attacks at 27 fall into one (or more) of the following three categories:
1. Has a congenital heart defect (This is a strong possibility since her father apparently suffered from this condition.)
2. Is severely overweight. (I will not comment on this other than to suggest the reader check the pictures of this individual.)
3. Recently took opiods or other strong drugs.
And I should give a shit because...?
That’s pretty much it.
Was. Was a tad overweight.
She died?
Heart problems are promoted and magnified by diabetes/pre-diabetes.
Daniel Pantaleo is one of those POs that has a consistent record of criminality. He cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands even before murdeting Garner for not paying 50 cents taxes.
When will the good cops clean up the bad cops ?
Yep, blame the Democrat ATF, not race. Democrats also cynically know their laws are meant to bait blacks mainly
Whats worse an individual hustling a few bucks from sales of loose cigarettes or organized government hustling big profits from cigarette taxes? I do agree however that Eric Garner should not be selling his loose cigarettes on the properties of merchants who follow the onerous tax laws which are outrageous thievery however Garner wasnt ripping off customers with his petty sales.
