The oldest daughter of Eric Garner who has become an advocate against police brutality since her dads death suffered a heart attack Saturday night and was in critical condition on Christmas Eve, family members told the Daily News.
Erica Garner, whose father died in 2014 when NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo placed him in a chokehold on Staten Island, was on life support in ICU in a Brooklyn hospital, the family said.
The 27-year-old mother of two is unable to breathe on her own, family said.
Esaw Snipes-Garner, Ericas mother, told The News her daughters condition was grave but the family hadnt given up hope.

At 27 ?
Damn.. a heart attack at 27..
That’s very young...
Genetic heart issues apparently
Pretty sad story. If she departs this life I hope she reunites with her dad in heaven. He shouldnt have resisted police arresting him and although they were rough on him I blame the laws of intrusive government as he was just selling cigarettes to make some money.
Smoked too many loosies.
“he was just selling cigarettes to make some money.”
It was against the law. Period.
Just like illegal immigrants are breaking the law.
I’m sure if this guy really needed money he could have found another way to do it.
.
Maybe they can both sell cigarettes as loosies to the marginal heavenly occupants?
Clearly someone must’ve put her in a choke hold to have caused this.
Not so sure about that. The only reason he made any money at all in it was that it was illegal. If it had been legal, stores would sell individual cigarettes, and based on convenience, and maybe even cost, would have cornered the market.
I think he was on the lower end of the ability spectrum...
Yea, it is very sad. 27 years old.
Hopefully she survives.
didn’t she call out al sharpton for the race baiting hustler he is?
In all fairness, he wasnt Robin Hood. He was selling his (smuggled and probably stolen) cigarettes right outside the door of the neighborhood bodega, whose owner actually does pay all the taxes and meet all the requirements necessary to sell cigarettes. It was the store that complained, because Garner had already been warned away from that location and in fact had been arrested several times before for the same thing.
I think it was found that it wasnt an illegal chokehold - he started fighting and when they got him to the ground, he basically died because he had an asthma attack and chest compression because he was heavy and was on his stomach with his hands behind his back. He was complaining, but of course probably everybody does. But as soon as they realized that there really was a problem, they tried to help him and called for an ambulance, but it was too late.
The family seems like they might have some congenital heart problem and, of course, the daughter herself probably has asthma and is overweight, which makes things that much worse. Still its sad because they dont seem like evil people, just kind of dysfunctional and hapless.
Looks like she’s a tad overweight.
He was selling cigarettes outside a legitimate business establishment and harassing the customers of that business establishment. That's why the police were called to the scene in the first place.
He was a nuisance in life, and met an unfortunate end of his own doing.
The welfare has almost destroyed a lot of Blacks. They allow food stamps to be spent on junk food,
To the grossly overtaxed residents.
$5.85 is the tax on a pack of Maroboro's in New York bringing a pack to around $11-$14
The nationwide average price is 5.25 before taxes. When the government makes more on a product than the grower, manufacturer, distributor and retailer combined, Thats just out and out theft.
Plus how many millions go to police the sale of this LEGAL product.
I've never smoked, but this is tyranny, doing what it does best.
