New York Post ^ | December 11, 2017 | Ian Mohr

For Page Six’s 40th anniversary, we unearthed a recounting of “SNL” wildman John Belushi’s first talk- show interview on “Midday Live” in ’77.

Belushi had to be rousted out of bed and appeared unshaven and “on all fours, crawling onto the set.” He then threw a glass of water on host Bill Boggs, kicked over a table and said on-air of the female producer who intervened, “I don’t know who this person is, but she’s asking for sex.”

I know I shouldn’t find humor in the state of someone who was as out of control as John Belushi, but...it was the Seventies. Things were a bit different then...

Many with a gift for comedic genius are often tortured by demons that ultimately take them down.

JB was 2nd City great and then with national lampoon and lastly w SNL was freakin hilarious.

Jonathon Winters was the most genius and most tortured. RIP funny guys.

Is it true that Jonathan Winters would commit himself from time to time? I have heard that a few times, but I do not know how true it is. It wouldn’t surprise me, though. I loved Jonathan Winters when I was a kid. He was a genius.

I found that scene hilarious! And the scene where they visit The Penguin...:)

When my wife and I were in Spain on our Honeymoon, I walked into the television room in the hotel full of people, all watching “The Blues Brothers” in Spanish...I found that kind of funny too!

I loved Winters when I was a kid, as well, but, like Robin Williams, he became downright annoying in later years.

I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

I never knew how tortured Rodney Dangerfield was until I recently saw this 90-minute bio of him on Youtube:
