Fire crews continued working Wednesday on an out-of-control brush fire that erupted in the Angeles National Forest about 4 miles east of Sylmar early Tuesday morning and eventually prompted the closure of the 210 Freeway .

...

The fire has burned 11,377 acres – or about 18 square miles – as of Wednesday morning, the InciWeb incident information website posted just before 9 a.m.

...

Nearly 600 firefighters have been called to battle the blaze, which was being pushed by wind gusts between 50 and 65 mph, the website stated.

The fire crossed the 210 Freeway between Sunland Boulevard and Wheatland Avenue Tuesday night and threatened 2,500 structures.

The county Sheriff’s Department estimated about 250,000 people were under an evacuation order.

All those people voted for HRC, so I'm really torn...

Do I somehow generate pity for them, or respond with joy at their suffering, like they would if the situation was reversed?

You'll note how often they like to gloat when there is a shooting in a church, or at a country music concert. For that matter, I don't actually recall any democrat feeling sorry for our dead...

All those people voted for HRC

Only about 2/3rds of them, but that could be plenty enough for hating on.

They gloated over the destruction in Houston.

I’m not going to wish them ill but I refuse to help them other than individuals that I personally know.

How much of this and other major fires has been exasperated by the environmental policies in California? There used to be a time when citizens could go into local forest areas and clear out dead brush and trees, of which they could use as firewood.

72% voted for HRC in LA county. Not that it’s justification for gloating over the fires in that area.

Ignore them. It's just your routine knee-jerk California hate, all too common here. Humanity steps aside for perceived revenge.

Prayers up for the safety of your loved ones in the literal line of fire. We're safe so far here in Santa Barbara, but the sky is a strange red color and you can smell the smoke.

Never gloat over someone’s misfortune. I don’t care what they did or who they voted for fire is devastating.

They live up the hill east of the freeway. Right behind them is apart and then the hills with underbrush. Waiting for a call from them

Didn't the Bamster refuse to release Federal disaster funds to Texas after their wildfires a few years back?

Who they voted for makes no difference. I live in one of the most conservative areas of Montana and our wildfire season was so bad this summer for the first time I packed our evacuation trailer and drove it off the mountain. And this was days before when the closest fire was still 10 miles away with 40 mph winds forecast to blow it our way. I had time to gather what couldn’t be replaced and move those items to a safe location

Those folks facing 60 - 70 mph hour winds had no time to prepare and had to run for their lives. Nobody should be torn about that.

Sounds like they might live in the same area as my sister, right up the road near Maclay. She got evacuated yesterday morning before sunrise.

They’re north of Hubbard. Their street ends at the park. I think Hubbard was the cut off for mandatory evacuation but they left anyway

You might be surprised. That area of the Foothills was still majority conservative when I left there in 2006.
