Humorist and long-time radio host Garrison Keillor, of A Prairie Home Companion fame, says he might have to move out of the country after being ousted from the Minnesota Public Radio for inappropriate behavior.
Keillor, the 75-year-old veteran broadcaster who is married, confirmed his firing on Wednesday, claiming that it stemmed from an incident from years earlier in which he says he accidentally touched an acquaintances bare back while attempting to console her.
Keillor later took to Facebook, bemoaning his downfall after five decades of hard work and lamenting that he was feeling ostracized everywhere he went. The post has since been deleted, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune got a screenshot of it. [ ]
In an email to MPR on Wednesday referring to the recent spate of sexual harassment allegations against powerful men in politics, entertainment and the news media, Keillor argued that the country was in the grips of a mania.
The comment was made in the context of the sexual misconduct allegations that multiple women have made against Senator Al Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota whom Keillor defended in a newspaper column a day earlier.

Oh I hear ya. One gal I was friends with for a couple decades worked at a law firm. She told she personally saw 3 women pursue their attorney bosses - once hooked - they then sued them for sexual harassment. Successfully, I seem to recall that she indicated.
There are many types who scream “victim” when in fact they actively set people up. So it’s a mixed bag.
“Much as I detest his politics and his attitudes, this does smack to me of a witch hunt.”
yeah but the schadenfreude is too tasty to resist...
I understand exactly your sentiment!
However, like a person who has been attacked by, and seen his mates be eaten by man-eating sharks, the joyful opportunity to safely stand on deck and watch and watch an injured shark be disemboweled and devoured by other man-eating sharks far outweighs the pity one feels for the one being eaten!
just be careful with your hands in the green room at the awards show :)
BS. Has to be more to it than that.
It’s just how Keillor’s reacting to it that answers everything. He could instead fight back as Roy Moore has, but he is not.
Whoever believes this please raise your hand.
Two comments, he sure does remember details. Was this a significant event in his life?
Second, if t’s older than 10 years ago and no forcible assault, I really don’t care about it. I give one extension to kids, but not to women who are slightly touched.
even Slate seems to agree:
Why Garrison Keillors Fall From Grace Feels Particularly Queasy-Making
Keillor once said about the Danish language: "It's like talking with hair stuck in your throat." He's right!
I’ll be on the lookout against Matt Lauer!!!
WoW!
Can we shame any more leftists to leave the country??
Sorry MrEdd I should have pinged you on my last post to Ferris...
I told him to have a look at your MUCH earlier swipe at Garrison Keillor, your “Whoa! Begone, Garrison” line.
Gotta keep an eye on these budding comedians, you know...
I hear you but do you really think extremely liberal NPR would fire an extreme liberal on just an accusation? I assume NPR has a file on him as well as concrete proof. There is more than just accusations. Your only hearing Keillor’s side. I don’t believe he’s telling the whole story.
I’m still trying to recover from Brian William’s helicopter not actually being shot down as he said it was.
Plus I’m reading Hillary’s 275th excuse book.
I feel faint.

Oh, too much typing to do.....
Witch Hunt? It’s a Reign of Terror. Honestly, that is its nature. Don’t get me goin’ ...
I wonder he thinks that applies to Roy Moore as well?
This is the “pernicious maxim” ... that where much is alleged, something must be true.
I don’t remember where I saw that, years ago.
