Humorist and long-time radio host Garrison Keillor, of A Prairie Home Companion fame, says he might have to move out of the country after being ousted from the Minnesota Public Radio for inappropriate behavior.
Keillor, the 75-year-old veteran broadcaster who is married, confirmed his firing on Wednesday, claiming that it stemmed from an incident from years earlier in which he says he accidentally touched an acquaintances bare back while attempting to console her.
Keillor later took to Facebook, bemoaning his downfall after five decades of hard work and lamenting that he was feeling ostracized everywhere he went. The post has since been deleted, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune got a screenshot of it. [ ]
In an email to MPR on Wednesday referring to the recent spate of sexual harassment allegations against powerful men in politics, entertainment and the news media, Keillor argued that the country was in the grips of a mania.
The comment was made in the context of the sexual misconduct allegations that multiple women have made against Senator Al Franken, a Democrat from Minnesota whom Keillor defended in a newspaper column a day earlier.

Much as I detest his politics and his attitudes, this does smack to me of a witch hunt.
Reaction to Charlie Rose scalding?
[Minsk]
It’s a long journey from Milan to Minsk.
Watching lefties maul each other is so entertaining.
Probably not a faggot-—he’s married to a woman.
Maybe it’s dawning on white liberal males that it’s open season on them too!
Jim McGreevey was married to a woman. But you’re probably right ... he’s probably not literally a faggot.
Agreed.
I most strongly suspect that Mister Keillor is not the victim, here.
From the few times I heard his program, I recall him ridiculing President Bush (and us Republican voters), and endorsing confiscation of firearms in this fine Country.
While not exactly schadenfreude, I do lack concern for his self-made "issue".
.
two employees made allegations?
Possibly he was confused ... I think the woman relate that it was the front of her shirt and not the back, but being an ignorant backwoods Lake Bemoan hick he may not have known the difference!
There’s always Russia.
I had never heard of the guy until the WSJ did a story on him around 30 years ago. I remember his then-wife was Danish, and he was waxing poetically about how wonderful life in socialist Denmark was, as well as Dane society.
Probably moved to Sweden for the fermented herring, rather than the Danish smoked herring, as well as lutefisk.
I can try to make Krokaners here at home.
It was Denmark, actually. He came back because Denmark isn’t a country of immigrants and Danish is not the easiest of languages.
We now know that that mania went way overboard, especially with the official prosecutors, most prominently the U S Attorney General, Janet Reno. Part of,the justification of the Branch Dravidian (Waco TX) was to protect supposedly abused children, who unfortunately did not survive the rescue attempt!
Just because many of the accused are active members of the LEFT, does not automatically equate with guilt. We FReepers should not be members of any lynch mob as our principals are better than that!
Ferris, you win this thread :)
standard...Ï am the real victim here” sit back..enjoy the ride as 60 + years of liberal moral superiority goes down the drain...
