Women are having fewer children than ever.
Daily Mail ^ | November 24, 2017 | Tim Sculthorpe

Women are having fewer children than ever before and more are staying childless, new data reveals today.

Women who turned 45 in 2016 had an average of 1.80 children, down from 2.21 for their mothers' generation, who turned 45 in 1944.

The same generation also had fewer children by their 30th birthday, suggesting women are having children later in life. Women who turned 45 last year had 1.06 children by 30 compared to 1.8 in their mother's generation.

In total, 18 per cent of women who turned 45 last year had no children at all, compared with 11 per cent of women in their mother's generation.

The full headline should have been: “Women are having fewer children than ever; Men are still having none”.

I will put Fundamental Baptists n that list, but they could fall under the hard shell Evangelicals.

Three girls and two boys, one mother, 33 years of marriage.

Blessed am I.

That’s part of it. But think the government allows the business community to prey upon the middle class so they can collect more tax revenue.

“Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.”

But in today’s lifestyle, you play it or it plays you. You can’t do, say, or act on anything without big brother looking over your shoulder making sure you’re playing by their rules. They make the rules and they can punish you for not playing correctly. Win/win for them.

I'm 34 years old. Never married. I'm a typical guy, nothing special. I'm a secularist. Anyway, I think the biggest problem the West is facing right now is radical feminism.

Interesting, in reading through the responses on this thread, I see minimal to no mention of men in this equation...

Yet there have been numerous threads here on Free Republic with Freeper men espousing the “Men Going Their Own Way” movement and being happy and proud not to get married and have families.

Of course, they blame women and feminism for poor relationships, etc. However, I suspect women who are not married would have a completely different take on the subject. I seem to recall women on these threads stating they could not find good men, etc.

Major miscommunication on this subject between the sexes IMHO.

Would you want one of the liberal ones to be your mama? Still I think ALL women should bring 1(one) child in the world. Married ones should have 2 and STABLE families should have 3-4. Remember married women went for Trump. Screwed up ones will always need government. If it’s only one there’s hope.

Unmarried women should have ZERO children.

Married liberals should have ZERO children.

Married Conservatives should have at least FOUR children.

I know: For the first generation, that would not result in replacement levels - but in subsequent generations!

There are 21 married woman in my church. They have 44 living children. They’ve also lost some, so, there have been more pregnancies. Several are still in the process of building their families, and are in their 20s and 30s, so more are expected I am sure.

What are you, the Parish Statistician?

Seriously, who keeps such close and accurate tabs on his neighbors / fellow parishioners, etc.?

On the contrary: As you, yourself, have just pointed out: Both men and women complain about essentially the same thing: They can't find "worthy" spouses. (How they define "worthy" is admittedly a little different, but boils down basically to "do not have good values, work ethics, etc.")

Yes, with some the consideration is “how many children can we have, if any, and maintain a desired standard of living?”. With others, it’s “I want a large family. We will cope”.

I have too many inheritable problems that made my life at times miserable.

Funny thing is nobody I’m related to has hardly any of them.

The idea of a kid having to live with any of what I got is unthinkable.

Yeah, but the muzzies will make up for that, with their 4 “wives”, rapes, and sex slaves.

I am a big advocate of the idea of the Christian religious movement called “Quiverfull”. Even if Christians do not belong to that movement, they should fully embrace this idea.

That having large families should be the primary purpose of marriage and faith. Only secondary to having children should be all the rest of things, in no particular order, like materialism, entertainment, employment, financial security, retirement, etc.

This can mean many radical departures from the world we live in today. Parents need to relearn that husbands should be the family “provider”, whereas wives are singularly important in having and the household raising of younger children. Fathers also contribute a lot to child upbringing as a secondary task for them, once their family sustenance is secured.

Children’s primary education needs to be at home, both by their parents and by other home schooling parents; though secondary education would inevitably mostly be through charter schools run by like minded educators.

Thank you...

And you are correct.

Neither sex seems to want to look in the mirror and take any blame tho—always a problem in the resolution of an issue :(

Folks tend to look for victory on a huge scale. As if we don’t win over a bunch of death worshipping, corrupt socialists that some how we are not winning. If you look at the things that matter, our families, our coreligionists, our philosophy, things are doing swimmingly well.

We’re using a different metric to define victory. If your concern is for the future of aging socialists in NE cities, then the outlook is bleak. If your concern is partisan politics, then things are grim. But if our concern is the future of our families, our coreligionists, our philosophy, our faith, our health, and countless other things that actually matter, then things are doing very well.

And once again I’ll point out that Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing. That doesn’t mean that the rest of our lives need be pessimistic. See tagline.

Sadly, your unique views, your genes, and what you could pass along to future generations will end with you. Yes, many American women are spoiled, and many are poor prospects for motherhood or marriage. And their views and genes will end with them as well.

I’d point out that there are give or take 4 billion women on this planet. Many have traditional views and are very good prospects for wives and mothers. If the local hunting is grim, perhaps you should look abroad.
