When Apple unveiled the iPhone X in September, it seemed the tech giant had finally addressed one of the most common complaints about iPhones: Their propensity for the screen to shatter when dropped.
Apple said the glass on its three new iPhonesthe iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone Xwould be tougher than not just its predecessors, but all other smartphones out there.
The new generation of iPhones are reinforced by a steel and copper structure with the 50 percent deeper strengthening layer using our dual ion-exchange process, Apple said, adding that it is the most durable glass ever made in a smartphone.
Since its release on Friday the usual slew of tests and reviews that come with the launch of a new Apple product have inundated social media platforms. It didnt take long for Apples claims to be put in doubt, with some initial drop tests concluding that the iPhone X is the most breakable iPhone ever.
Electronics insurance firm SquareTrade conducted a series of drop tests and other durability experiments designed to see if Apples most expensive iPhone ever is also its most durable. In a video posted on Monday, the company gave the iPhone X a high risk breakability score, noting failures of the Home swipe and Face ID, as well as extensive shattering and splintering.
SquareTrade is using the drop tests as a way to push its insurance on iPhone X customers, saying in the video: Technology comes at a price. Drop it, and youll pay. But several other drop tests performed by independent bloggers since the iPhone X release have shown similar results.

Did you go Android?
chuckle....
And have been mostly happy with the Androids. Our family has several. Can't justify the extra 20% for Apple phones.
Everything is the opposite of what you see in the media. It’s really eerie.
Still not one Apple product in my household. Somehow we have managed to survive. I can get 3 nice used guitars for $1000.
20%?
I just saw Amazon is selling G6s for $400. I spent that for a midranger last year.

Really? iPhones stay working for longer and are upgradeable far longer than Android phones. My original 2007 iPhone was handed down through various members of my family for 6 ½ years still working on its original battery. Many people are still using iPhone 4 models. There are 1.25 BILLION iPhones still running around the world.
That is not planned obsolescence, fishtank.
Obviously you don't use an iPhone if you think it's painful to browse.
No, they're not. They have a few minor problems that some users experience in the first roll out. They are ironed out within a couple weeks with point releases. No body, not even Apple, can find every minor bug on the first release. There are too many combinations of software/hardware interactions that people use for beta testers to try. All in all, they are usually pretty rock-solid for the majority of users. There is nothing that comes out that is a "disaster" as you put it. You are posting FUD, unadulterated FUD.
Frankly, I doubt you really own an iPhone. You are not one of the 750 plus members of the Apple Ping List. . . that tells me a lot. Trolls who post FUD usually try to give themselves some authority by claiming ownership of an Apple device. . . but your unmitigated claims of 'disaster" on updates when they don't happen the way you claim really is false.
yep.....
As usual, you are delusional in your Anti-Apple Hate. It has nothing to do with Apple marketing.
Let's see. . . a processor that's more than 70% faster than the nearest competitor's. A Neural Engine processor that can do 600 BILLION calculations per second? A graphic processor that's 30% faster than the nearest competitor? There is nothing faster on a phone or tablet. The Processor on the iPhone 8 and X is faster than an Intel i5 in the 13" MacBook Pro. . . and YOU just have to denigrate it????
LIAR. It's less expensive that the insurance pricing for the Samsung Galaxy 8 or 8+.
Is this similar to someone calling Rush Limbaugh, and saying, Rush, I am a registered Republican, but......... You know those seminar callers are lying out of their you know whats. 😀😆😄
As is typical with you; you missed the point. The statement from a cult member is that the iphone x is a “supercomputer” you just posted all the reasons why it is not. Thanks - once again - for making my point.
And you, in your typical approach, are busy INSULTING Apple users. . . From your very first post in this thread to your very last thread. . . But YOU invoked Apple marketing in your broadbrush snipe at Apple. Apple never said “supercomputer” but you are trying to provoke a flame war, with your snide insults like “cult member”.
Get over it the iPhone X is a $999 dollar whiz-bang bought mostly by people who can't afford it but do so because of their allegiance to the spaceship.
There you go again with slinging the insults. Just because YOU dont make a decent income doesnt mean others dont. Quit denigrating the economic choices others make with their own disposable cash on hand. I can easily afford buying what I like. . . and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH ALLEGIANCE to "the spaceship" you snot-nosed brat. You are the troll in this subject. . . attacking the choices of your fellow Freepers and insulting their intelligence. We dont insult your choice of an Android purchase saying you are worshipping Google or Samsung. But you feel compelled to attack users of Apple products and impugn their intelligence, motives, and whatever else you can find to denigrate them. Youre a bigot!
