Automotive News, the leading trade publication covering the auto industry, called for banning the Demon from the street in an editorial last April.

The car "is so inherently dangerous to the common safety of motorists that its registration as a road-worthy automobile should be banned," it wrote, citing its "barely legal" tires and massive acceleration.

Controversial? Please note that Tesla makes a car with an even FASTER 0-60 TIME!!! Perhaps I missed it? I have yet to see anyone wanting to ban Teslas??????????

Let's ban the great and glorious earth saving Teslas!!

As it now stands each time someone plunks down the long green ($130k+) for their Tesla, I have to help pay for it! Taxpayers are forced to assist this poor soul with his payments. Worse still, the great salesman Elon Musk also has his hands deep in my wallet.

Ban the money guzzling Teslas!!

All that horsepower so you can drive 70 mph on the Interstate. Not a fan of banning though. If you can afford it and want one, go for it. This is American after all.

I think paradoxical names like "Bumblebee" and even "Road Runner" with the cute cartoon bird are cooler.

I'd feel cooler stepping inside a 800+HP "Kitten," "Muffin" or "Lil' Pony" than putting a key in my (black and red, yawn) car and having to see a silly "Demon" on a TV screen in the dash wink at me.

Then again, I'd have a place to stick all my "No Fear" stickers.

How about the Dodge Lambkin

I don’t see why anyone would need 840 hp but if they want to spend their money. But it’s no more dangerous at 168 mph than some idiot going 120 mph. If they hit you it won’t be pretty. I guess the only difference is if you’re sitting at a stop sign it would be harder to judge how far away byhe oncoming car is.

The fastest Tesla I could find (2015 Tesla Model S P90D ‘Ludicrous Speed’ Upgrade) does 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds, slower (if that really applies. LOL) than the Demon.

Tesla came out with a new driving mode that cuts the acceleration to 7.6 seconds, since it is too hard to handle as is for some drivers.

Why would anyone buy an American car?

They break down and aren’t as good as Jaoanese cars.

All things must pass....my 2011 Mustang was a big boy for a while. Coyote made me say silly things while passing other vehicles. Ooooh....a Hemi. How CUTE!

I might just have to rev a couple times next to one of these new ones. Get him squirrely off the line and hit a tree.

All while I casually start accelerating in 2nd.

415HP....used to be so much POWAH.

Tesla might ban itself. The company has lost something like 4 billion over the years. It lost over 600 million just last quarter. It has never turned a yearly profit. And it continues to miss its already anemic production goals. Just laid off a bunch of employees.

According to this article, apparently the only car that beats it 0-60 (independently measured) is the Porsche 918 Spyder

What is the Tesla 0-60 time?

I’m certain it doesn’t have a sub 10 second quarter mile.

The Dodge is just a tad faster.
Here is the Challenger SRT Demon after a few years of use.
