Senate Republican leadership is calling for Alabama GOP candidate Roy Moore to step down as the party's nominee if new allegations of his inappropriate sexual conduct against a 14-year old girl in 1979 are true.
Both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) released brief statements on Thursday, shortly after The Washington Post published the allegations.
"If these allegations are true, he must step aside," McConnell said.
Gardner's statement echoed that from McConnell.
“The allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are deeply troubling,” he said. “If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election.”

Moore has come out denying it and is an attempt to smear him.
“I assume that Alabama doesn’t have a sore-loser law then.”
They do, but it only applies to being the nominee of another party with a printed name on the ballot. It doesn’t stop write-in campaigns.

Like more said this is outrageous. They wait 40 years until the last few weeks of a senate campaign! I don’t believe Alabama voters are that dumb.
If the allegations that McConnell planted this story are true McConnell should resign immediately.

This allegation of sexual impropriety is a bunch of bullshit. It’s a trumped up lie for the purpose of getting rid of a duly elected official from Alabama whom doesn’t play in the Swamp with those self righteously calling for him to step down.
There’s no doubt in my mind this allegation is a creation of the Swamp.
Drain the swamp, concrete over it, and Roy Moore can then drive the bus over it.
