DisplayMate: Apple’s iPhone X has the most color accurate display we’ve ever measured; it is visually indistinguishable from perfect

IPhone X

“Switching from LCDs to OLEDs is a major engineering and manufacturing challenge, so I was eager to test and evaluate the new OLED iPhone X,” Dr. Raymond M. Soneira reports for DisplayMate. “The result: Apple has produced an impressive Smartphone display with excellent performance and accuracy, which we cover in extensive detail below. What makes the iPhone X the best smartphone display is the impressive precision display calibration Apple developed, which transforms the OLED hardware into a superbly accurate, high performance, and gorgeous display, with close to text book perfect calibration and performance!!”

“The absolute color accuracy of the iPhone X is truly impressive,” Soneira reports. “It has an absolute color accuracy of 1.0 JNCD for the sRGB / Red.709 color gamut that is used for most current consumer content, and 0.9 JNCD for the wider DCI-P3 color gamut that is used for 4K UHD TVs and digital cinema. It is the most color accurate display that we have ever measured. It is visually indistinguishable from perfect, and is very likely considerably better than any mobile display, monitor, TV or UHD TV that you have."

The iPhone X matches or sets new Smartphone display performance records for:

“Yeah, they are slower and have quirks,”

Best finish that statement accurately...

“Yeah, they are slower and have quirks, viruses, and the user’s privacy being sold by google is a very high price to pay, but if you want an imitation iPhone, they win hands down.”

My X will be delivered to me within 2 weeks. My wife prefers the Android phone. Whichever of our two phones is the latest version is the best. I will bet dollars to donuts her next Android will be at the same price point as my Apple as they attempt to compete with the tech. Considering phones these days are hand held supercomputers (of a decade ago) a grand per device isn’t surprising.

Just checked the price...A grand for one of these things?!

...

No price is too great if you belong to the Church of Apple.

Lol. “Critical color” on a zillion badly set monitors is elusive. Saw a cartoon in a book called Professional Photoshop, a tombstone for a color tech: RIP...HE TRUSTED THE SCREEN.

You are right - the Samsung Note 8 is a thousand dollars, too.

Isn't that when Oliver Wendell Jones trashes his Banana Jr. 6000 so that he can get a Banana Jr. 6000i because he doesn't accept using technology that is "obsolescent" and that's what the new computer is offering?

“A grand for one of these things?!”

Sure, but that’s only $500 a year or $41.50 a month or $1.36 a day. You can afford a $1.36 a day can’t you??

/sarcasm

P.S. Don’t forget: It’s a phone that can CURE CANCER! (Yes, that article was posted on FR.)

LOL! Well, the capitalist in me says more power to them! I just won’t be joining the queue to purchase one. :-)

FWIW, I won’t buy a Samsung at that price point, either. I’m using an old phone and, as long as it works, will happily continue to do so. :-)

I have a Motorola Moto Z Play. Works great. $410. That’s about the cheapest there is and yet I still feel I paid too much. It’s nothing but a computer with a radio for cell phone use.

My phone has fingerprint smudges all over it.
I can barely see the display!

Off topic....

Do you happen to know a fix for the latest IOS’s update that keeps filling in a square or A? for the letter “I”?

It’s showing up on my phone and for a few folks on this forum.

TIA.

I will bet in a side by side comparison 99% of people could not tell the difference between the 10 and the S8. And I have had retinal scan and face recognition on my devices for over a year

And those security measures were easily fooled by mere photos of the users, freedumb. . . photos! Not secure at all.

The introductory price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on AT&T: $949.99

It’s only $50 less expensive than the iPhone X with the same capacity but slower storage and much slower processor, poorer quality screen.

Google Pixel 2 XL also on AT&T: $849.00

That’s far slower, less capable. Gee, Apple’s price is not so much out of line. . .

Not quite, but damn close. I think it’s $979 on at least one carrier.

No, Toady, it was not posted as your LIE mischaracterize it. As I posted the LAST TIME you posted that lie, what WAS posted was an article from MIT about a doctor who used an iPhone with an Ultrasound attachment to DIAGNOSE his throat cancer he did not know he had.

This Doctor Diagnosed His Own Cancer with an iPhone Ultrasound

That is a LONG way from “curing” cancer with an iPhone, but YOU had to mischaracterize what was posted to smear me. . . But that is what Apple Hate Brigade members do. . . Lie.
