I am a fan of the original, big time. One of the best movies to come out in the 80s, for sure. The trailers for this one look very promising.

Why did we need a remake?
Was something flawed in the original?

The cynical side of me has low expectations. I wouldn’t mind being proven wrong, however, and the previews seem to be careful about revealing too many details.

Blade Runner is deep.
Would you like to meet your Maker?
Roy Batty did just that.
He met his maker Tyrell.
If you meet your Maker, what would you request?
Roy Batty told his maker Tyrell, “I want more life, f####r.”
What would you do if your request/prayer went unanswered?
In response to Roy Batty’s request, Tyrell said we made you as best as we could, so no life extention. Sorry, Batty. But enjoy what time you have left in this life.
Obviously, Batty did not take no for an answer. So Batty kissed his maker and killed him.
Thus goes the short and brutish life of an ungrateful creature: Kill your maker because he does not serve you.
I told ya, Blade Runner is deep.

The opening scenes in the original "Blade Runner" with the Vangelis musical track was one of the most epic.

Hollywood can ruin anything it touches, including sequels to great films. Still, if FR reviewers like it, I might see it. If so, it will be my first film in many years.

How old were you in 1983? I’m 49 and I still get neck cramps from twisting around to look at women :)

My favorite movie of all time. I saw it on the big screen in Montgomery, Alabama in 1983. I crossed a decade of time that day to be with the woman I loved. The music still haunts me. Sean Young had to know that her epic part would be it for her, everything else was downhill from there. I’m hoping Ridley Scott remembers her in the new movie in at least some small way.

Original Blade Runner was great.
In recent years, Scott has provided great concepts but poor execution. Generally, Hollywood can’t write for crap.
The Expanse is a decent series.

Is Vangelis providing the soundtrack? Pure genius, I have several selections from the OST on my overnight playlist.
