BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old Palm Beach County girl was pronounced dead just after midnight on Monday, months after drinking boiling water, according to a Department of Children and Families report.
The little girl got out of bed Sunday night to tell her mom's boyfriend she could not breathe, according to the report that references "a previous injury that occurred when, on a dare, she drank boiling water from a straw."
According to the report, the 29-year-old man called 911 after he went into the child's room and found her, "unconscious and unresponsive."
Records show rescue crews rushed the girl to a hospital where she died, despite receiving resuscitation efforts for nearly an hour.

I dated a gal with kids beore I was married. I treated them Great but I’m a man and I would sometimes, God forgive me, think why the ### am I taking care of these kids instead of the guy that got her pregant?
The thought was fleeting but it’s a difficult thing to struggle with and I admire step parents that are good ones very much.
They put themselves before any silly ego.

Yes, her same age cousin made the dare last March. She’s had a tracheotomy since then.
