SKOWHEGAN, Maine A Maine man told a 911 dispatcher he was killing himself and first responders needed to hurry up because he was an organ donor.
Skowhegan police Chief David Bucknam says the man was still breathing when first responders arrived Sunday night, July 23rd but he died a few minutes later.
~snip~
There was no organ donation in the end. The mans body was sent to the state medical examiners office in Augusta, precluding the harvesting of organs.

The article did not advise.
Did the cops come and shoot him to prevent him committing suicide?
No, they were too late.
So they shot his dog instead.
They would probably have to do an autopsy, so the organs couldn’t be donated anyway.
Reminds me of the author Walter Miller. He phoned police saying there was a dead man on his lawn. He then walked out his front door and shot himself.
“...on the morning of January 9, 1996. After four months of depression following his wifes death, Miller phoned 9-1-1 to report that there was a dead man on his front lawn, and when the Daytona Beach police arrived three minutes later at 8:32 a.m., they found Walter M. Miller, Jr., aged 72, seated in a chair on the lawn, dead from a single bullet shot into his brain (Streitfeld).” http://www.terrybisson.com/page4/page4.html
Terry Bisson finished his last novel for him and wrote a wonderful Afterword about Miller and how Bisson ended up with the novel (much to his surprise): http://www.terrybisson.com/page4/page4.html
Well, that’s just chopped liver.
