I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day.
What's the story behind your handle?
Easy one for me. We live in AZ where the summer’s are hot (duh). So it’s az-is-hot. A few freepers have thought it was az-i-shot and asked me what is was that I shot.
Someone with your last name donated the money to create schools in their Oregon town, and the schools had the Lynch name (like Lynch Elementary, etc.). Until yesterday, when I read that the Lynch was being taken out, because it was offensive. Sad commentary on America.
I am huge Errol Flynn fan and his first big movie is probably my favorite. So Captain Peter Blood I am and I do like sailing and the sea.
She grew up in and lived in Los Angeles. She called where I lived "Hooterville" and where she lived "The cement jungle".
I moved to L.A. when we got engaged, so I became "Cementjungle".
Sometimes one is compelled to state the obvious.
Hello fellow Richmonder
Late to the party but might as well pile on:
Been Freeping since Lewinski, under a different screen name: PoisedWoman.
Became Veto! after W elected, hoping he’d get tough on Dem Swampcritters.
Still waiting for massive veto fest by some Republican. Donald?
I like the Strolling Bones and was listening to their tunes, so ....
From those of us who know him well, we call him “John”
Everyone thinks my name refers to the band ‘Radiohead.’ While I do enjoy the band, my name actually refers to my love of Classic Radio (Dragnet, The Great Gildersleeve, Jack Benny, etc.).
These shows were mostly before my time. I’ve grown to love not just the stories, but the insights into American culture and history that they provide. The Great Gildersleeve is particularly good at showing family life during wartime - rationing, buying bonds, etc.
Weirdad. 1998. Lurking well before.
Am I a paternalistic spelling impaired werewolf? [uh, yeah ...]
Am I an unusual father (and am I really “weird” or is it the opinion of various and sundry offspring?) ? [uh, yeah ...]
Am I just named as a way of saying “unusual advertisement ?” [uh, yeah ...]
https://duckduckgo.com has my FR Page at #3.
https://google.com ignores me in its usual manner of ignoring conservatives, focuses on “unusual ads,” and finally on page #21 of Google results, a FR post of mine appears indexed by google.
The fact is that all of the above are true but the prevailing force behind the name was the sentiment (of various and sundry offspring) that I am a weird paternal parental unit...
... and ... 19 years later ... that is probably still the case.
Road Warrior '04 was what I picked, harkening back to my start date and honoring all of the road trips with fellow Freepers Seekthetruth, Leni, Gonzo (RIP), roaddog727 (RIP), MatcettPI, 3D-JOY, M Kehoe and more! What a bunch!
And behind every Minuteman was a MinuteGal ready to support, even fight side-by-side, to gain victory for the fledgling colonies.
"Keep Your Powder Dry!"
Leni/MinuteGal
Snicker! :-)
Mike’s is boring.
Although, this has gained much curiosity...

Since way back in high school I’ve been in and out bands, most of them performed at dances and parties, keggers, then later in clubs in around D.C., in many types of groups from country, rock, swing, beach, surf, ska, and even a diesel-billy band (which might be considered a type of Hot Rod/Rumble outfit).
The diesel-billy band was comprised of a bunch of musicians from other bands and we all had names which were taken from truck names (Kenworth), or Truck Part names etc... it was nothing permanent, mostly ad hoc and a throw together for upcoming events.
So I became Clutch.
We had a guy named Jake Brake, and we had a guy named Interstate Nate and we had guys named Tractor etc... it was great fun. I think they still get together in various configurations and play a lot of celebrations, fests etc...
SOOO......
I took the word Fiddlesticks and modified it to fit that old nine character limit.
Throughout the 90's Fiddlstix became so well known in certain circles on IRC I have kept it and continued to use it here at FR.
My FR handle is not as magnanimous and well thought out as yours. Entropy is one term I never clearly understood in my thermodynamics class, and 12 is the lowest golf handicap I ever achieved. 12 probably beats 95% of golfers. Now in my mid-70’s I am lucky to stay below 18.
It is my opinion that The Deplorables and We The People are beyond fed up with the Swamp bottom-feeding traitors comprised of the MSM, Deep State, DNC, GOP Elites, Soros, BLM, Antifa, and the rest. The time of push back is here to save our country and our freedom.
Mine is simply because its almost everything liberals hate. My tagline comes from th Ren and Stimpy cartoon, plus its a jab at socialism.
