Trump’s Son Met With Russian Lawyer After Being Promised Damaging Information on Clinton
New York Times ^ | July 9. 2017 | JO BECKER, MATT APUZZO and ADAM GOLDMAN

President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.

The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner only recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times.

The Times reported the existence of the meeting on Saturday. But in subsequent interviews, the advisers and others revealed the motivation behind it.

The meeting — at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, two weeks after Donald J. Trump clinched the Republican nomination — points to the central question in federal investigations of the Kremlin’s meddling in the presidential election: whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. The accounts of the meeting represent the first public indication that at least some in the campaign were willing to accept Russian help.

And while President Trump has been dogged by revelations of undisclosed meetings between his associates and the Russians, the episode at Trump Tower is the first such confirmed private meeting involving members of his inner circle during the campaign — as well as the first one known to have included his eldest son. It came at an inflection point in the campaign, when Donald Trump Jr., who served as an adviser and a surrogate, was ascendant and Mr. Manafort was consolidating power.

It is unclear whether the Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, actually produced the promised compromising information about Mrs. Clinton. But the people interviewed by The Times about the meeting said the expectation was that she would do so.

“Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. “

Let me see if I understand. Both political parties run negative (dirt) investigations on opponents in the hope of politically destroying the opposition.

Some Russian crook say she has dirt on Clinton and son of Trump sets up a meeting to hear more. Learns it is all BS, the meeting shifts to something else and ends shortly. That is not horrible! That is politics.

Now for the fun part that the NYT will never cover, but hopefully the Congressional Russian investigation will.

John Pedosa of the DNC had real Russian connections. Hillary's uranium deal while SOS has real Russian money connection. Pedosa came up with the Russian hacking excuse for Hillary's loss.

Often people “project” emotional motives. That is they feel that others do the same kinds of evil things they do.

When the dust settles, it is clear that the Russian lady lawyer with ties to the Clinton campaign was part of a sting to discrete the Trump campaign but failed. And now the NYT is trying to breath fresh life into the charges. If this had any legs to stand on it would have been used by the DNC during the campaign.

This is a great example of the NYT inventing FAKE NEWS.

How about this: Perhaps if Hillary didn’t do anything that someone would have damaging evidence on, then there would be no chance for the Russians to have it.

That is what happens when a politician is corrupt, it allows foreign governments to use it as blackmail. I guess the NYT and others fail to see the irony.

Now, I wonder just who might be the unnamed source of this story of the secret meeting between Russkies and Trumpskis ??

Could it be an unnamed really tall white guy, who was coincidentally seen entering the NYT with his wife just a few weeks ago?

And did that really tall white guy who used to be a government employee hand over records from a secret government surveillance operation of a campaign of candidate for president?

Just asking questions here....

There is always the "recycle old news" option.
