Plausible deniability is a politicians best friend. Its something politicians seek to maintain in all circumstances by giving vanilla statements that offer future wiggle room.
For President Trump, though, plausible deniability is a way of life. The ability to pretend he didnt actually say what he seems to have just said is something Trump has weaponized and exploited. Its something he wields against his opponents in an effort to constantly muddy the waters and rally his supporters against a common enemy.
The controversy in recent days over Trumps tweets shows exactly what hes doing: He is constantly trolling by saying something highly suggestive of sexism against Mika Brzezinski or of violence against CNN and then waits for the media and his opponents to pounce before claiming persecution.

What maroons
President Trump has not uttered 100% of the quotes made up by the media and attributed to him.
I say to these knot heads, “aw, shut the hell up”.
Trump seems to have introduced the art of persuasive speaking to politics. This new thing needs a name. I shall call it “rhetoric”. It’s a wonder that no one before Trump every sought clever ways to sway people’s opinions about government and current events. [/s]
I read this as WaPo saying 0bama didn’t need “plausible deniability” because the press (WaPo, etc.) always covered for him (”57 states”, “my muslim faith”, etc.)...
Beats the hell out of IMplausible deniability, which was the only card in Baraq Ubama's deck.
"I first heard about it in the news." "The first I heard of it was when I read the paper." "I heard about it while playing X-box." "I heard it had something to do with a video." "Somebody told me about while I was having a waffle."
Hoist on their own petard! Or what the meaning of “is” is.
Boy they just don't get it, do they? Trump doesn't claim persecution. He waits for the inevitable hypocritical response -that he provoked and set up by tweeting something hat appears to be outrageous, e.g. "covfefe" - and then goes in for the headshot. Every. Single. Time.
Not even “regular” liberals are as stupid as the liberals in the media these days. Its quite remarkable.
plausible deniability? such as obama saying “i just heard about it on the news” every time a new scandal from his regime was revealed??
It didn’t seem to be a problem when Øbongo did it...
is this anything like when Obama and Hillary ordered a hit on Ambassador Stevens to shut him up, and then came on TV and said it was an uprising over a video ?
Speaking of Benghazi, why haven’t we heard from the people who were there?
...or like when Obama went to campaign for his al qaeda connected cousin Odinga in kenya as a uS senator in 2006that ended in a coup attempt by Odinga that hacked 350 christians to death but Snopes said it was plausible deniability because and alleged contribution never happened ...even though the winning president of Kenya filed a forma complaint against Obama before the UN ?....you mean like that ?
it gets silenced , one survivor came on a radio talk show a few weeks ago. But even conservative talk radio hosts are terrified to bring up Benghazi for fear of being labeled crazy, lke how sean hannity took a beating for bringing up Seth Rich
there is only so much the Benghazi survivors can say , or they will have an “accident” and they know it, so they stay pretty low key
Who cares what these morons think?
