My auntie saw her mom and reached out to her. My mom was heavily medicated due to pain but her sleep seemed pleasant and peaceful

My Dad who went to be with Jesus at 91 had UTI’s and the stupid doctor was giving him Leviquin. . .big doses. (Do the research on that family of drugs. . .serious!!!!!!!!!) I did some research and decided to give him Silver Biotics. . .no more UTI’s. The doctor who I didn’t care for kept looking through his charts after my Dad’s urinalysis came back without any problems.. . .each time we went back for other issues. . .I never said a word. . .but no more antibiotics. Made by American Labs. . .I swig it every day myself. . .even put the gel on my dog and cat’s food. I oould go on. . . It also comes in a 30 ppm. . Patis 30. Check around for deals. Some are charging exhorbitant prices. Needs to be in every household. Anyway my Dad continued to be UTI-Free. . . .Praise the Lord

PS. . .You might also check out the benefits of coconut oil (the good kind). . .for dementia. There are some amazing stories. I am putting that in my everyday bullet coffee with grass fed butter, cacao, cinnamon and organic honey. Put in a blender (make sure not too hot or you will have a problem). Does not separate after leaving it stand. Also you may want to add the honey afterwards because heating it takes away some of the benefits.

My sympathies to the whole family including him. We have Mom who has Alzheimer’s. I don’t know that variety of dementia but Lewey Bodies dementia also has hallucinations. It must be even harder than what we deal with.

It’s grass fed. . .the fats are good for you. . and it makes the drink smooth. It’s part of my routine. I read about it, tried it, and liked it. I have also tried putting in some collagen protein in it. I am not a health nut by any means. . .I went off the wagon and downed a couple of donuts today. . .but my health took a toll being a care giver plus working and rather than go to a doctor I decided to change my bad habit ways (sodas, ding dongs, etc.). I’m glad I didn’t go to the doctor’s before changing my ways. . .who knows what kind of meds they would have put me on!!!!

Thanks for your informative reply—— I love butter but it wouldn’t occur to me to put it into coffee.

Letting the dying know it is OK for them to go is sometimes the right thing to do.

My dad, also WW2 vet, had Charles Bonet syndrome for the last 8 years of his life. It came on after he suddenly had complete and permanent vision loss from retinal hemorrhage in his remaining eye. He did not even have light perception. I understood it as brain activity making up for the sudden lack of sensory input from the eyes. More common in elderly persons who experience sudden loss of vision. Dad never completely adjusted to it. You could ask him anytime whether he was seeing things, and he would describe in detail that he could see up ahead a field of rabbits, or horses, or people or some kind of vegetation or landscape...or whatever his brain was visualizing. He would never interact with the hallucinations except that it sometimes interfered with his sense of spatial orientation, and you had to reassure him the next step he took was indeed on solid ground and not onto a boggy marsh or puddle of water. A little reassurance would do the trick and he could walk with assistance. It is written about this syndrome that people usually do figure out the hallucination is not real, and they can carry on with otherwise normal mental status; this is a difference from other kinds of hallucinations where the person is convinced the hallucination is real and they start talking with it. There is no reliable treatment for this syndrome, at least none was available up until the time of Dad’s passing in 2014.

My mom has macular degeneration and dementia too. Her most recent UTI was a raging infection, and she saw all sorts of things that weren’t there. UTI was the major cause. She was hospitalized for 5 days trying to clear it up, but it did! The doc told us a week later after her release that he thought she was done, but she responded to the antibiotic. So we are blessed to have a little more time with her, but we expect she will only last another year or so. She’s 87.

Anytime she seems more confused than usual, we suspect another UTI. She’s had dozens of them. They come and they go.

Prayers for you and yours! This part is pretty tough to deal with.

Yes, by all means, don't use the coconut oil where "the BAD kind" is written on the label!

Seriously: How are you supposed to tell the difference? The manufacturers certainly won't point it out.

I would not bother folks seeing dead people. Tell them it’s a vision of Heaven. Theologically possible and does no harm.

"When people are getting closer to passing they sometimes see others in the room."

In my youth I worked a few years as an orderly in hospital. Occasionally it was my duty to sit with delusional elderly patients. They would be talking with people from their past making peace. It was quite nice.
