Schieffer bewildered his audience by suggesting, “There are many parallels to Watergate. But I have to tell you, I think all the way back to the Kennedy assassination, to draw parallels.” The veteran journalist stretched, “I was there, as you know. I have always felt that if Lee Harvey Oswald had been put on trial, a lot of these conspiracy theories that are still circulating today would have been put at rest then.”
One can sort of see what Schieffer was aiming for, in relation to dispelling conspiracies about the Russian investigation, but it’s still a bizarre comparison to make.

Today it’s Schieffer: “The Comey firing reminds of the JFK Assassination ... I covered that one, you know ...”
They understand at a deep level that the world has passed them by and that they no longer understand what’s really going on. There is deep confusion — “Why isn’t Hillary 50 points ahead??”
Bob Schieffer has gotten 50+ years of mileage out of giving Lee Harvey Oswald’s mom a lift to Dallas.
Old Bob still thinks Oswald was the only gunman. What a tool. I’m amazed he can still think. Met him in the dining room at the Homestead in the early ‘80’s before the Ex stole all my money. It was just late afternoon and he already had three or four empty highball glasses on the table and believe me the service there used to be New York second quick.
Where do they come up with this crap?

I saw parallels between the way various Donald Trump supporters were chased, assaulted, and beaten in the streets during the 2016 Presidential Campaign, and the Rwandan Genocide of 1994, which was encouraged and coordinated by the largest broadcast media outlets in that country.
