Older teenagers will be pulled from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the Mormon church announced Thursday. The announcement from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints means an estimated 130,000-180,000 teenagers ages 14-18 will no longer participate in Boy Scouts starting next year. The Mormon church is the largest sponsor of Boy Scouts troops in the United States. The Boy Scouts' "Varsity" and "Venturing" programs for older teens had become difficult to implement within the religion, Mormon officials said in a news release. "Instead, Young Men activities will focus on spiritual, social, physical and intellectual outlined by the Church," officials said. "These activities are designed to be fun and meaningful and provide opportunities for personal growth and development." The change applies just to the United States and Canada, where the "Varsity" and "Venturing" programs are implemented, according to Mormon officials. Some 280,000 younger boys ages 8-13 will be kept Scouts while the church continues to develop a global scouting-type program. The loss is only a fraction of the 2.3 million youth in Boy Scouts, which has had a close bond with the Utah-based religion for more than 100 years. BOY SCOUTS WILL ALLOW TRANSGENDER CHILDREN INTO PROGRAMS The faith said the decision wasn't triggered by Boy Scouts policy change in 2015 to allow gay troop leaders since Mormon troops were allowed to run their groups to adhere to church teachings. The Mormon church opposes gay marriage and teaches its members that being in a homosexual relationship is a sin. The church has been working on an overarching global program for years.

What were Mormons doing in the BSA in the first place?
You’d think with that many teens, they have their own Mormon version of the boys scouts.

Men can’t sleep in tents with girl scouts.
Why must BSA insist homosexual men should sleep in tents with boy scouts?

OK, so Mormons are getting antsy with BSA for what appear to be plain vanilla biblical reasons (not esoteric Mormon reasons). If I read this right, which I am not sure I do.
BSA needs an overhaul from the top. They need to reverse course on their tranny/bi/homo acceptance policies and get back to teaching Christian values and skills for young boys becoming MEN. If they do not then BSA will die away. As an Eagle from 1976, this saddens me.

I’m trying to remember the name of the new rival explicitly classical Christian faith based movement. Heritage Scouts? I googled (maybe Google is the problem?) and didn’t see anything definitive.
As originally conceived, BSA had a heavy Christian spiritual component, but it became more and more inward facing as the years went by. “Gay” is just another way of doing that.
The Boy Scouts will learn the hard lesson ESPN and Target have learned and they can’t say they weren’t warned. Glad to see the church take this action.
The Mormons could start their own “Sea Organization (Sea Org) “
It lost what Christian focus it had. The only real way to see that resurrected is a frank “God is like this, so God wants thus and such” point of view. Aside from a miracle, I can’t see the current BSA going that way. It’s too besodden with self focus now. This is going to have to become a churchly undertaking.
It is such a shame that good, formerly non-partisan organizations like the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have been turned into political footballs by the Left. There is nothing in America that the Left doesn’t infest and destroy. A lot of Americans want a break from politics in their social life. They don’t want the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or other social organizations to stand for a political position. But the Left won’t have it. It is the very definition of Totalitarianism. Politics in everything.
No to Boy Scouts.
They are killing off the Varsity program. It isn’t really that bad. LDS kids hated it anyway. The politics of this has more to do with the fact there is a serious imbalance of education money spent between boys 14 to 18 and girls 14 to 18 programs.
LDS is most certainly looking for a way to shake lose of the BSA, but they don’t have a suitable replacement with the cache of Eagle Scout at the end of any other alternative. 14 to 18 for both girls and boys in the LDS church is going to get a big makeover. This frees up cash for that.
The BSA once represented values that a large swath of Americans could agree on, so there was no need to develop a parallel organization. Not so much anymore ... sadly.
Sometimes it is just to late to repair what is damaged. I think this is one of those cases.

The leftists are superb in infiltrating and undermining organizations, religions, you name it. But when conservatives leave the now corrupt situation, despite the bitter acrimony created by the leftists, the schism condemns the liberal side to wither and die.
This is both because the organization or faith has lost its meaning, purpose and spirit, subsumed by the leftist agenda. And though the leftists usually make off with the treasury, their way has no appeal to conservatives, nor those who truly believed in the original idea.
The other reason is that leftists are cheapskates and parasites, who do not contribute, only take. They have no righteousness or faith, other than their atheist pseudo-religion.
How dare there be Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts? What about the 0000.0005 % of kids who don’t fall into those categories???? Abolish the whole thing!!!!!
