Apple fanbois are officially sheeple. Yes, you heard. Deal with it (Merriam-Webster hates Apple?)

Offended? Go hassle Merriam-Webster, not us

Apple fanbois are officially sheeple. So says American dictionary Merriam-Webster.

The American lexicologists added the term of endearment to their tome yesterday, a mere 72 years after its first recorded use in the English language.

Helpfully, and entirely non-inflammatorily, Merriam-Webster's people gave two examples of "sheeple" being used in a sentence. The first was a fairly neutral example of a farmer being rude to his neighbours. The second... well, here it is for your amusement/enragement (delete as appropriate):

Apple's debuted a battery case for the juice-sucking iPhone – an ungainly lumpy case the sheeple will happily shell out $99 for.

A quick bit of (insert your adjectival search engine of choice)-ing reveals this neat little phrase was used by one Doug Criss of CNN in 2015.

Criss himself hadn't said anything on Twitter about being cited by the dictionary and we're not bothered enough to ring him up and ask him what he thinks. It's nearly time for elevenses, after all.

Sheeple was added to the only true dictionary, the Oxford English Dictionary, years ago – it was their word of the day on 6 January 2013. Regardless, it's nice to see our colonial cousins keeping up with the mother tongue. ®

“Samsung Galaxy S8 supports LTE-U, which both Verizon and T-Mobile aim to deploy”

By the time Verizon and T-Mobile get these deployed in any usable areas, Samsung will be on the S11 or S12. The standards are still not set in stone. . . and with the record of Android updates how do you know that the firm ware will get updated on the S8 to update to what that standard will be, if indeed it can be updated with firmware? It won't even be at 1.0 until sometime in July 2017. Samsung is merely hoping. . . and Verizon and T-Mobile will not move on it until the standard is set, because they won't gamble billions of dollars on a guess as to what that standard is going to be just to get a jump on the competition who also is not gambling for the same reason because there is simply ZERO advantage to having LTE-U in a few markets ahead of the competition.

I've always believed Limbaugh gets paid to advertise Apple products, but Apple makes him pretend he's not getting paid. There's no way he commits that kind of air time to a corporation without getting paid. Apple needs conservative purchasers, but doesn't want the blowback from paying Limbaugh. They may do something other than cash payments, like providing all the computers and tech support or making contributions to a charity he designates, but it's hard for me to believe that he's giving away that kind of advertising.

The FCC requires all paid advertising to be reported. It is not being reported that Limbaugh is being paid by Apple and Rush has multiple times stated that Apple DOES NOT PAY HIM, and that he wished he could be paid by Apple. He is just an unabashed Apple customer. Earlier this year he was giving every caller an iPhone 7 or 7 plus. . . out of his own pocket. It he were a paid advertiser for Apple it would be required to be reported on his FCC logs, even product placement or in-kind. It is not, ergo, he is not being paid.

Like you said, it locks out other uses. Or did I say that?
