I've heard a lot of differing views directing anger, disappointment and relief at the various parties in Washington lately.
So I'm wanting to take a poll.
Did you support passage of Trump's and Ryan's healthcare bill? Or Did you support Freedom Caucus stopping it?
Ryan has a two page executive summary of ye bill on his webpage. It’s pure obamacare with the exception of letting the exchanges group in with several states, a change in the way medicare is funded, and a new commission to be sure there is no cherry picking of low risk customers. And that our bills are transparent.
I’ll still have to pay for reproductive services, and nobody will see any drop in the skyrocketed rates.
Ryan got serviced by the insurance lobby, and he intended to service us. Maybe I need reproductive coverage after all!
And anyone who believes there was going to be further more serious reforms during midterms has a screw loose.
That's a strangely couched question, because it's entirely legitimate to support both.
For instance, I supported the HFC's opposition to the bill, and I also supported the President's decision to move on, and not drag out the negotiations indefinitely in an act of desperation.
Perhaps it would have been better to have a vote, even if it failed, because then everyone would have been on record.
If the question was "Do you support the House Freedom Caucus or Paul Ryan", it would make much more sense, but trying to conflate elements of the legislative branch with the President just doesn't correspond, IMHO.
Don't forget the Freedom Caucus gave the President a standing ovation in their most recent meeting.
So your poll is weird.
It's important to distinguish between rhetoric which is put out for the public's consumption, versus what really happens behind the scenes...
I proudly stand with the HFC.
>>I support Trump 95% of the time but the HC bill was a piece of crap so the FC was right on this.<<
It wasn’t “his.” He did a good job of keeping his hands far away from it.
This was ALL ryan and it stunk out of the gate.
They should have repealed first and been willing to take the heat for those who would lose coverage. Instead, all but the HC cowered in fear.
(1) had the support of only 17% of the American people;
(2) didn't address any of the items in Trump's own seven-point plan for health care reform from his 2016 campaign; and
(3) didn't even reflect the points Trump made in his address to the joint session of Congress only a few days before the bill was rolled out.
I supported stopping the bill but disapprove of the dishonorable way the FC did it. Left a very bad taste in my mouth and I seriously doubt President Trump should trust them until they make it clear they can be trusted
I support Trump
and Freedom clown can go to hell
Fc
I’m not sure how this poll is wierd. There was no third option in the vote.
FC. Health care is a states issue.
Straight repeal or nothing.
Trump
Most of the FC people voted for Ryan and Boehner to be Speaker in the past.
They are fronting for “Never Trump” along with the usual suspects Levin and Beck.
FC!
President Trump and Paul Ryan are to blame. The freedon caucus saved our a$$es on this thing!!!
FC
I hope they can piece it back together again, but it will be on Trump's shoulders to resurrect it. The FC and Ryan are equally culpable in destroying a bill process (yes FCers, it had to be a three step process) that would have gotten us three quarters of what we wanted, along with the defunding of Planned Parenthood, and a genuine repeal of Obummercare.
I doubt we can get any better than that. I hope we can even get that much now.
