Both the Euro and GFS are showing stonger storms in closer to the coast, so this could well become reality.
I made one trip out this morning and it was to the liquor store. I've got enough booze in the house to host Van Halen for a week. That is, the version of Van Halen from the early 80s. But David Lee Roth is going to have to sleep in the garage. That man is an animal. Also I have my firewood stacked, my generator gassed up and a pile of books to read just in case the power goes out.
I never understood the panic over food though. Even in the worst snowstorms, the roads are cleared within 48 hours and stores are always open. And if the power goes out, a lot of that food is either going to spoil or go to the raccoons. If I get hungry, I can always dip into my canned goods. But I got my beer so no worries.
I use snowstorms to clear that shelves of foods that would otherwise just sit there. It’s a terrific way to save money.
Hmmm. Just received the “book off restriction” via email from my employer for Tuesday. Its going to be a long day.
Well, we’re overdue where I live, but 14 to 18 inches is better than 18 to 24.
Up in Boston many years ago, I got stuck in a snowstorm. There was no way to get home as public transportation closed and there was a driving ban. Our employer put us up for the night at a local hotel and let us expense our dinner at any restaurant of our choice. I remember us being at some restaurant near Faneuil Hall and sucking down plate after plate of oysters. Around 11PM that night, I got temporarily lost trying to find my hotel which was only about three blocks away. That's how thick the snow was. All in all, it was an experience to remember.
My kind of guy!
Never knew they forecasted weather for currencies!
That's what the maps says...and that figure is positioned almost exactly where I live.
Yah,and you might get some snow too.
Well, the 20"-24" figure is positioned just west of NYC...which may,or may not, mean something. If this is a "coastal" storm Upstate NY might not get as much as NYC/Providence/Boston.
Every great once in a while it pays to live in La La Land. 85 degrees again today. Too hot for me.
Was that 1978 by any chance?
Your posts have been really funny lately. I think you are going through a happiness phase! ;) May it last forever.
(Hope you don’t need to go out in the blizzard for more coke for the band)
Good point.
As long as I know I have a snow shovel guy i’m fine with it!!
No, wait. There’s getting to work on Staten Island...overnight dispatcher for labor services INCLUDING snow removal from CVS, Target, Walmart etc.
####.
1-3” here. Wooo!
Face it: we’re screwed!
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
We’re in Northern P.G County, and they’re being kind of cagey as to how much we’ll get. I was hoping we would escape a big snow this year, but we always have to look out for March.
Why do people freak out and go panic shopping over a big snowstorm especially in metropolitan and suburban areas? At most the stores close down for maybe a day or two. Sheeeesh Louise.
