RIP Robert. I’ve wondered about his health for sometime now due too his absences.

I read that he served in the USAF for two years.

Oh no! I love TCM and am so sad to see this news.

Ben’s grandfather Herman J. Mankiewicz wrote ‘Citizen Kane’.

    Virgil Writes,
"Mankiewicz. Hes a commie." Yes indeed. It is something he inherited from his dad, uncles, and other relatives. He is often on that agitprop show "The Young Turks".
To: freedomson
I smell a new gig for Mark Steyn, maybe they can buy his CRTV contract! Maybe he and the commie can have some debates where, if fair, Mark will generally prevail.

 I know, highly unlikely.....

I was disappointed when they didn’t have his comments before or after a movie. Just him only announcing the movie made it seem a little better.
RIP.

TCM is the channel I watch the most, and I always enjoyed his commentary. Many of his anecdotes were first hand. He will be missed.

Many a times, Osborne would reel me in to watching a film I had never seen before and likely never would have, with his pre-movie commentary.
A Face in the Crowd comes to mind. So does Duck Soup.

RIP - I loved this guy. Now we’re stuck with leftist douchebag Ben Mankiewicz.

    Osborne was great
everyone else is weak and does not have Osborne’s gravitas.
The Osborne back stories were worth watching more than the movie. (in fact the movie was skipped after the commentaries)

Mankiewicz was tolerated only because Osborne was still there.

Mr. Osborne was the epitome of class. TCM should devote a week each month to “reruns” of his best and most-watched intros. Giving a proper and tasteful sendoff will be challenging for TCM

To: freedomson
My heart is broke. I loved his stories. Now we’re stuck with TYT Mankowitz. Ugh. TCM and Fox News are the only reason I watch Tv.
