MELANIA TRUMP, first lady of the United States, and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump, wore lavish and stylish outfits to watch the presidents first address to a joint session of congress last night.
However, the two glamorous women were widely criticised for their outfit choices, which were branded inappropriate after social media commenters noted the hefty price tag of the extravagant garments.
Melania Trump wore an outfit from Michael Kors Spring 2017 collection that retails for $10,000, or over £8,800.
The black skirt was cinched in at the waist with a wide black belt with a square buckle, while the fabric was adorned with black sequin embellishment.
The Floral-Embroidered Stretch Pebble-Crepe Dinner Jacket costs for $4,995 (£4,037.61), and the skirt costs $4,595 (£3,714.28).
Ivanka Trump wore a relatively modestly priced $2,995 (£2,420.95) Roland Mouret dress, in an orchid pink shade with an off-the-shoulder silhouette.
Mourets site describes Ivankas gown as an easy choice for that evening affair when you think you have nothing to wear, while Kors vision for Melanias outfit reads: Shaped, slit and exquisitely embellished sexy this season is sly.
The American designers description of his black ensemble certainly suits the image that the public felt Melania Trump was channelling last night - that of Joan Collins in dynasty.
Her character was Alexis Carrington, the beautiful and vengeful ex-wife of tycoon Blake Carrington.
One Twitter user wrote: Melania is dressed like Joan Collins in Dynasty. #JointSession.
Another said: The last time I saw a sparkly suit like that, Joan Collins was wearing it on Dynasty????
One Twitter user said of Ivanka Trumps ensemble: I keep thinking that someone should tell @IvankaTrump that her bra strap is showing (imo the dress is inappropriate) #JointSession.
Another said: @IvankaTrump Show respect for the institutions of our democracy. Your dress is fine for cocktails but not for a joint session of Congress.
I was. I regret my judgement.
Iwas going to mention that. Liberal women are hosebeasts! They are just mad because Melania and Ivanka are exceptionally attractive women!
Or what about Michelle’s Versace gown, in a polished copper foil look. She looked bad enough from the front, but the back side (and especially that backside) was horrendous!
Nice Drapery on Miss Wookie.
MOOchelle gave true meaning to the term used by Hattie McDaniel in GWTW.....”Nothing but mules in horse harness”!!!!!!!
I noticed that myself. 8>)
Yes, Melania’s dress was just beautiful. I really liked it. I love a little sparkle. It had a bit of a nostalgia vibe for me—the glamorous ladies of the 1930s wore a lot of sparkle.
Her face was just beaming with pride when she was watching her husband.
Either that or the press just calls her Trump. But not taking the last name of your husband has become more commonplace as well apparently. Or they hyphenate them.
I have no clue.
so wrong! lol
An $8,000 dress for MELANIA would be like an $80 dress for you or me. I don’t think PRESIDENT TRUMP got his suit at JOSEPH E. BANKS either. LOL
Looks like a knee, not a thigh.
Very little thigh to be sure. I didn’t realize we were headed back into the 1920s. 8>)
Saw an article that gave Donald a back-handed complement for a “suit that fits”, as compared to his usual “boxy blue suits”. They went on to say he showed a “nice cuff” and “nicer cuff links”.
Besides the gush we all recall about wookie, remember how they instantly knew zer0 was POTUS material by the sharpness of his trouser crease?
The nice thing about the Trump family is that you don’t need eye bleach after seeing one of them.
I figure that a this can be handled mentally because the thigh you see does not belong to Hillary or Moosechelle my belle.
With all due respect, and I mean this sincerely, TFLOUS is a hottie!
Somebody call Carol Bernett; Moochell stole her comedy routine.
WHERE’S THE EYEWASH STATION!! Showing that picture should be an OSHA violation.
