Five Oscar nominees in the foreign-language film category released a statement ahead of the awards show condemning "the climate of fanaticism and nationalism in the U.S." — a statement that is likely the first of many political comments expected during Sunday's Academy Awards.
The group said it would dedicate the Oscar of whichever film wins to those working toward unity, and the films' directors said they reject the borders symbolically defining their category.
"We believe there is no best country, best gender, best religion or best color. We want this award to stand as a symbol of unity between nations and the freedom of the arts," the directors said in the statement.

Most of these morons would not stand a chance of winning the Oscar if there were no “borders” because they are up in the special “foreign film” category. Abolish that category and let them compete only head-to-head with ALL of the films made in the current year. Why give them their own special category of non-US films???

Even if there's no "best" country there can be no doubt that there are good countries and bad ones.Among the many good countries is the US...among the many bad ones are Mexico,Pakistan and Somalia.
Of course there's no "best" gender.Both genders are equal in the eyes of God.
As for best religion,Christianity (when practiced faithfully and sincerely) is a very good one.Moslemism (I refuse to utter that other word),when practiced faithfully,is a savage,medieval death cult.

And, if any actor/actress wins and is Black, they will always question whether or not it’s another affirmative action pick. After the outrage of the past two years, I expect Blacks to win a few.
