Began a search after reading a news item and learned these great 'funny' men had died. Listed in no particular order. Lenny Bruce, David Brenner, Johnny Carson, Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Flip Wilson, Buddy Hackett, Henny Youngman, George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Robin Williams, Gary Shandling.
Still living Don Rickles 90! Bob Newhart 87! Jackie Mason 85!
The USO needs Bob Hope
Sweet you, sod. Joan Rivers belongs with these men, but it’s likely she wouldn’t want to be referenced as one.
You might want to research the “Professor”
Does anybody remember an Asian guy from Tennessee who spoke with a southern accent?
I don’t remember his name, but he was pretty funny.
He did a lot of good work for the USO, as well. I dislike his politics, but I can appreciate his works.
Rest of the list is pretty good. Kinnison was a martyr, a one-note comedian that wouldn't be popular today if he'd lived. And Joan Rivers was a particularly nasty piece of work. But the rest are missed.
Most of them would be bombarded with liberal ire, because their material was far too un-PC. But I, too, miss them.
Who wouldn’t want to see/hear George Carlin do a 2016 version of his routine on driving?
Bill Hicks. He really spawned the 90s wave of comedians, but died before he could see it take off.
Drug OD.

Deceased: Red Skelton, probably the most patriotic funny man and true clown in Hollywood history. Dean Martin, Lucile Ball, Milton Berle, George Burns, Sid Caesar, Danny Thomas, The Marx Brothers, Bud Abbot and Lou Costello, the Stooges,......many more.
Still alive, Carol Burnett, Jerry Lewis, Dick Van Dyke, Tim Conway...not so many more.

Sure. The joke was that the poster “just learned” that these people had died. Bruce has been dead for 50 years. Anyone who knows who Lenny Bruce was (he stopped being a household name a long time ago) is well aware of his fate.
My, when ones like Bob Hope and Don Rickles and Jack Benny appeared on Johnny Carson on late night, that can make you think of that was when the NHL had ones like Bobby Orr, Jean Beliveau, Bobby Hull, and Frank Mahovlich in their ranks, as opposed to the Eurotrash you see nowadays with the players looking like faceless robots with their cheapshot stick offences going on all the time. Forgive if I am being a little silly with this analogy.
I wonder sometimes if Flip Wilson really is dead.
? ? ?
I don’t care what ‘good’ you think he did. He was a nasty, rabid liberal that was viciously against Republicans and Conservatives in some of his off-prime time stuff. No way in hell.
From your list, the ones I miss:
David Brenner, Johnny Carson, Rodney Dangerfield, Henny Youngman, George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters
Thank you, deport.
I should probably have this thread pulled and anyone interested in the subject can go to the site you listed.
Getting old and getting prepared;) LOL!!!
Thank you
