Political people in the United States are watching the chaos in Washington in the moment. But some people in the science community are watching the chaos somewhere else the Arctic.
Its polar night there now the sun isnt rising in much of the Arctic. Thats when the Arctic is supposed to get super-cold, when the sea ice that covers the vast Arctic Ocean is supposed to grow and thicken.
But in fall of 2016 which has been a zany year for the region, with multiple records set for low levels of monthly sea ice something is totally off. The Arctic is super-hot, even as a vast area of cold polar air has been displaced over Siberia.

This is the time of year when the daily temps fluctuate greatly before we settle into Winter. That said, lows in the 30s are normal for this time of year. When Old man Winter makes himself at home, our lows average in the 20s, but I have seen some weather systems bring temps that were well below zero.
Winter is coming
Meanwhile, it is a chilly 75 degrees here in Florida and residents are wearing jeans, sweaters, and boots. Brrrrrr.
Michigan will begin paying the piper tomorrow. Back in 1984 or so I grew tomatoes until Thanksgiving. Weather just cycles.
Trump’s Fault!..........................
I was stationed in Denver in 1974.
In September of that year, we had a new record for hot on a certain day, I think it was around 88-90°.
Then, that night it snowed...................
Dang, I was about to use the north pole as a giant cyrogenic storage base to freeze people so they can be brought back to life when the science improves.
Hey WAPO, its called weather! Last week it was in the mid 70s here. Last night we had frost and its going to be in the low 50s. The great white North shares a lot of characteristic with deserts in that temperatures can vary widely from day to day at certain times of the year.
I just checked the weather in Barrow Alaska, 320 miles North of the Arctic Circle, the northernmost city in the United States. They are expecting a balmy high of 11F today along with 36 minutes of sunlight. Probably not a lot of sea ice is going to be melting today or over the next several months.
Doesn't fit the narrative.
If you think this story is over the top, just you wait.
Oh yeah, and HOMELESSNESS will suddenly surge and the media will demand something be done!
In recent years, we’ve had snow in November. Not a tremendous amount but we have had snow.
But it has been a beautiful November this year.
Here is the background story of the polar vortex shift from a week ago.
http://www.newscats.org/2016/11/10/polar-vortex-centers-over-asia-with-la-nina/
The polar vortex mischief is upon us again--colder air out and warmer air drawn in. For now that cold is descending into Asia.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
You don’t unnerstan’. Instead of minus 66*, it’s a balmy -30*. Ice caps could melt or sumptin’.

This.
Ned Stark is deeply concerned.
