Weird Stories Thread

I know that many of you think I am a total nutcase. I thought about this today, and have decided to ask if anyone has some really strange stories. These are true events in their life that not even a fiction writer would touch. I have several. Maybe that's why I'm half crazy. Anyway, it's Friday night and let's play a bit.

What did he want? Did you ever find out?

As an aviation nut, I would have to ask about “Airship Industries.”

” If I stop I hear a few more steps behind me that fade quickly away. “

That is how it happened in my cases, but it matched my cadence precisely, since I was hearing a reflection of my own steps. If yours had a different cadence then it would pretty much rule out reflection/echo.

"on the subject of just how many people go missing in national parks. Evidently the numbers are suppressed. Gave me the willies."

It stands to reason. There are what, 200-odd national parks, many of them vast and covering extremely rough, remote terrain. At the same time, thousands and thousands of unqualified people feel comfortable going into the back country because they have some subconscious notion that this is safe...It's official, it's run by the good ol' US government, there are friendly rangers at the gates smiling and waving. So in they go. And they don't come out, but how would that look if word got around? Not good at all, so they just keep it hush-hush.

In a specific instance of my former roommates spoke of a terrible, fatal bear attack that occurred in Glacier while he was working there. Plenty of bear attacks in Glacier (more than anywhere else in the US, IIRC), but I couldn't find any information, anywhere, no matter how I searched, about that particular one. How many others are kept totally mum to keep the official tally down?

This person, or whatever it is, may actually be fearful of you, and is using intimidation as a way to get you to leave the area. Are you a religious person?

No, he just left to look for his client at another table. I assumed he was a real estate or insurance agent. But he definitely had my full name. He had only talked to his client on the phone so didn't know him by sight.

Read one of the 411 books, there are cases where people disappeared going around a bend in the trail ahead of their families.

Here’s a link to his website:

http://www.nabigfootsearch.com/Bigfootstore.html

Amazon has them, but they’re outrageously priced there.

When I was about 7...25 years ago... I was playing with the two boys who lived next door. It was getting late and I decided to head back home. I was walking by myself and right about where our yard bordered theirs I heard a voice from a few feet behind me... sounded like an old man....say “Hey, kid!” I turned around and there was no one there. The boys were still in their house and there was no place where someone could have been hiding. I was totally alone. I still wonder about that sometimes.

Obama is the weirdest story I know and the effects of that story are indeed up close and personal. Enough for me to write a book about it.

Airship Industries was a manufacturer of blimps located near Elizabeth City, NC. At that time I was intensely curious about blimps. At that time AI had a DoD contract to develop large blimps as radar platforms. So I decided to pay them a visit.

I went into the office, told them that I was looking for a job. They threw me out. I said that I was very interested in blimp construction and could I look around. They said no, get out now. So, I went back to my car, grabbed a florescent red clip board and an official NASA baseball cap and marched right back in.

I didn't bother with the office. I walked out onto the production floor. I looked until I saw what I wanted: a group of 3 men that looked like they were goofing off. I strode up to them, with attitude. One of them saw me and said "who are you?"

I brought my clipboard forth and demanded "what's your name?" They freaked. In less than 15 seconds they were answering every question about blimps I could think of. I held them there for about 30 minutes (and just beating the hell out of them the whole time. It was really funny.)

Then I let them go because I noticed that the Fuji blimp was out on the tarmac, connected to it's tender vehicle and no crew. So I marched out to the blimp and hopped on board. I learned more about blimp construction in those 30 seconds than I would have learned in 2 years in school. At that point, 3 other men, seeing me, came running out and leaped on board.

I whipped around with my clipboard and demanded "what's your name?" They folded like a house of cards. I grilled them for another 15 minutes.

At that time, the Westinghouse blimp was doing touch-and-go pilot training at the outer edge of the tarmac. They asked me if I would like a ride. I said "yes". So they drove me out there, made the blimp land, and loaded me on board for a 20 minute ride. I walked in looking for info, and walked out 4 hours later with everything I needed. One of my finest hours.

Then we heard something we did not like at all. It sounded very bad. It was a total buzzkill. I ended up taking her home and never saw her again. I don't know what happened in that room, and I don't want to know.

You glossed over the best parts! What did it sound like? A murder? Something otherworldly? Did you just never call her again? Or did you call her and she brushed you off?

It sounded and felt like death. I never called her again, and if I had she would decline.

Well, that’s slightly depressing, sorry I asked.

I have one but I’m so sleepy I’m having trouble thumb typing this. It will have to wait for the morning.

Oh and the time I felt all this love coming out of a pine tree at me while I was driving and listening to Prince. But yeah, too tired now.

Many years ago a friend and I were driving up CA 78 through some pretty heavily wooded area. We came around a turn and spotted a cloaked humanoid figure standing alongside the highway. He was poised over - kind of leaning over toward the center of the two lane with his arm out beckoning us to stop.

He was a giant and our 68 Camaro went right under his arm. We screeched to a stop and looked back - gone - he was simply not where he was a second before. We later estimated his height at 11 feet because his arm nearly reached to the center divided.

Was it singing "Evergreen" to you, or what? Don't leave us hanging like that.

That’s a pretty snappy number for a pine tree:

The 411 stories Completely freak me out and anyone I know who has read about the investigations.
The CanAm Missing 411 LEO’s and detectives perusing these past and current cases, are real deal.
They delve into cases that the Natl Park System and Police depts abandon.

I hiked the John Muir Trail in late Sept 2014 - Alone, before I ever heard of the missing 411 persons controversy (and that the Yosemite / Inyo forest is a hot spot).

During my 8 day backpack trip, there were days I didn’t see anyone for two days straight.
While hiking in forest areas I blew a storm whistle every quarter mile in hope of scaring a bear or mountain lion away and not coming up on them.

Now that I’ve read the series of investigations, and heard the very disturbing cell phone call message left by a victim calling his wife, I’m not planning on hiking alone or letting any of my group get separated.

Here goes, my husband has extreme food allergies but I don’t. We were at a party and I was talking to this guy and all of a sudden I felt like I couldn’t breathe.

I’m not the type to take pills or panic like I was but I just felt I couldn’t catch my breath.

I went out to my car to get a Benadryl. It was in one of those blister packs and I was shaking and I flipped the first one out on the ground. I finally got the second one out and realized that I was fine so I put the pill in my pocket and went back to the party. I walked in the door and my husband walked up to me and said “I can’t breath”.

I gave him the pill in my pocket and ran out and found the one on the ground. Considering the reaction he had even with the Benadryl it may have saved his life and we were able to skip the hospital because he could breath fine by the time we got there but his face, hands and feet remained grossly swollen for 3 days.

I always use the Twilight Zone, Do, do, do, do when I tell this story..
