Well, I don't know what to say.

The USA Today report didn't break down the percentage of the Asians, Latin Americans, and/or other nationalities/races in MLB. It made it sounded like all the rest of the players are 'white men', instead, MLB are just as diverse as any other sports.

If any moron in MLB pulls this stunt, I would hope for FReepers to give watching the sport up, until it stops.

I feel myself and a few other FReepers are the only ones who love football who stopped watching.

Countless black and Hispanic MLB players would beg to differ.

MLB seems to have a heck of a lot of brown players. MUCH more than when I was a kid.

by my eye only, MLB is the most integrated of sports.

It’s not virtually all black as the NBA nor mostly black as the NFL. Perhaps making the MLB so is what the goal really is? Now THAT”S deplorable!

The Orioles have always backed the various inner city causes he promotes. And this is the thanks they get.

In 2012 Jones got what was the largest contract in club history: $85.5 million.

The “White Man’s Sport” has been pretty good to him. But you can never satisfy some people who are going to hold grudges and resentment forever.

If the numbers are as he says they are, a protest from him would be more meaningful. So not only is he a racist, he’s a pussy too.

Bullsh*t.

Tell it to the South Americans and Latin Americans who are represented in such huge numbers.

In America’s Black, inner city, neighborhoods, it’s much easier for those inclined to sports to find a basketball court for a pickup game, and even a football field represents less real estate than a baseball field.

Black participation in Major League Baseball has been declining for years.

With his policy of flooding the U.S. with immigrants from Latin America to replace blacks as our largest minority, Barack Obama is just continuing a long tradition that began in Major League Baseball.

The real reason why there are no national anthem protests in MLB is actually simple:

Unlike football and basketball, baseball actually has the starting players for the home team take their positions in the field before the national anthem is played. If some mutant wanted to stage a protest, he'd either be out of the game or sitting on the bench as a backup player. In any case, nobody would even notice him.

Apparently Whitey is on the moon and playing baseball. There was an uptick to 59.07 percent of the players being white in 2016. Whatever happened to the content of a man’s character being the standard used instead of race? Whatever happened to being able to hit a curveball or throw over 90 mph being used as the standard instead of race? The link is a study and report card on how MLB is doing racially.

I looked at the article:

“Here’s my thing,’’ the career .279 hitter asserted, “there’s somebody on the 49ers’ team that commits an act like that, accosts a 70-year-old man and his kid, and nobody’s talking about that. But they talk about Kaepernick doing something that he believes in, as his right as an American citizen. People need to talk more about that guy than Kaepernick.”

The wording here is odd: if people weren't talking more about Kaepernick, something of his "effort" would've failed.

Or is he saying that more people shouldn't be talking about Kaepernick "negatively"? I can think of a few reasons that aren't race-related. In other words, the former teammate might've been black, or a black player might've done the same thing, and the amount of conversation would still be similar. A completely white player who sat as a "protest" during the National Anthem would still be controversial.

The two most prominent in my mind:

First, assault isn't that controversial and usually wouldn't lead to much debate.

Second, Colin Kaepernick has been by far the more famous and more discussed player, with some flashes of talent and a moderately interesting history. He'll get more attention than other people.

An "ordinary" man who is charged with felonious assault on "ordinary" people probably wouldn't appear on national news without some odd reason, and Adam Jones probably would've never heard of him. An "ordinary" murderer who kills an "ordinary" person has done something even worse than anything yet mentioned above--and without some "exceptional" reason, we probably wouldn't be talking about the case.

(We talk about the presidential candidates' health because what they seek is not some unimportant office in an unimportant country. If your 68-year-old aunt is an obscure woman with little "newsworthiness," you probably don't complain that her extremely serious health problems don't get the attention that Hillary Clinton's less severe problems do.)

Whether you choose to watch or not watch baseball is a personal issue, and I won’t discuss it. But of all the games played in the US, baseball is the one game where race is rarely if ever an issue, and hasn’t been for at least 50 years. On the MLB diamond, men of every race and color can be found, and the way they get there is not because of privilege but because of merit. There are bullies in the game, but it is not because of their race, but because of their lack of integrity, and everyone know who they are.

If you want thugs, you go to football and basketball; if you want whiteness, you go to hockey. If you want what America is supposed to be, a land where people from the whole world come to be their best, you go to baseball.
